i bought one 4 output lol..probably only have 1 channel then?

I imagine it's still 2-channel.  That seller is selling a lot of emergency/police-type lights which would flash back and forth, so the 2-channel thing makes sense, regardless of the number of outputs.

That's awesome.  I kind of knew that chaser would work, and I love what you did with the candle too.  What is that star you made?? I want one, LOL just kidding.  Chip still likes his topper with all the lights on, isn't ready to have them chase yet.  I can't believe the company that makes them controllers wants $34 bucks each for them.  They have one for $30 bucks that is made more for the LED's but even still I think that's allot of money.  Still, nice job.

Sommer that looks great. Being able to control the speed of the chaser is a nice touch. The next step would be to tie the chase speed to a machine and have it speed up when credits are being paid out for a win.  stir the pot / get cooking propeller

We made light organs in electronics class that could likely me worked into a slot to react with the sounds of the machine.  I'd have to dig through my memory for that though.

Thanks,

Cool, what makes it change functions......

Those are the standard IGT oval S2000 toppers.  Just apply power to the wires leading to the LEDs and they cycle on their own -- it's not programmable or changable by the end user.

Yup, Kevin got it.. he knows everything... it's just a circuit board with some LED's on it. That video didn't turn out near as shaky as I thought it would since I was standing in an office chair, now that I think about it, things could have went terribly wrong.

I bought that topper about 4 years ago, got it and looked at it for about 4 days and put it back in the box and tossed it in the garage and forgot about it. Never would have found it unless I was looking for some packing tape the other day.

Brian,

I call that a pleasant surprise! Now I want to get a topper!

CaptainHappy CaptainHappy

I got this one from Renee Pafundi awhile ago, I haven't seen anything at all in her ebay store latley, I had to make my own harness tho' only drawback and they won't fit an S+ without some extra help from external power supplies , 24V for the flour. 12V for the LEDs

Yup, Kevin got it.. he knows everything...

I try telling people that but nobody believes me.   rotflmao

Just send them here Kevin, we'll tell them and they'll have to believe us, they'll have no choice.

Hello All
RBG controllers come in 2 flavors, Common Anode (+ LEADS TOGETHER) or Common Cathode (- leads together). The Garfield toppers use Common Anode all of the pos. leads tied together. I received my RBG controller from Hong Kong & you guessed it it's common cathode. I ordered the correct controller & when it arrives I'll give you all an Update.

Hello All
Garfield lives. The controller that i got from Hong Kong works well. It allows me to adjust the brightness & speed of the chase lights. The lamp rod i got at the hardware store allowed me to attach Garfield to the top of my machine. The 12vdc 2amp power supply that I used is just loafing along. I measured the current draw for the finished product & It's less than .7 amps. This is what worked for me, Good Luck with yours.

Holy craps!
I didn't know that there was a cabinet that big behind the Garfield sign...!
Usually, toppers only have about 4 to 6 inches of a box behind the screen...
everything (wiring, ballasts) is usually tight as heck to get at to work on.

Yeah  -  I enjoyed learning about the LEDs inside there too. - I thought there would just be a bulb inside.

Looks like it's made for 110 Volts switching. Bad Idea! Unless your into accidental electrocution.

(400W for each channel at 110V.
Separation of high and low voltage to prevent accidental electrocution.)

I don't know if it'll work but if you get that particular one, you're going to have to solder everything onto the board.
Those kits come with a whole bag of resistors, and various components that you have to figure out what is what and put it together...
I bought some kind of kit like that and it's still sitting on my desk in the bag....lol
I had no time to decipher and assemble it...
