Just learning and had some questions about restoration work on slots.

Does replacing the reel strips hurt a machine in the slot collecting world?

Are parts in like models interchangeable?

Is it best to run away from machines missing parts?

Very!! wide open question !

What machine are we dealing with?   A very collectible saught after item or a common every day slot. Wide area to cover with that question. Lets be safe and ask for some details as to what you have and hopefully nice detailed pictures to get you the best answers to your questions..

Thanks for the reply, I'll try to narrow it down.

I seem to like the 1920's/30's style machines, nothing exotic.  However I do like the fortune telling reels.  One I came across was a Watling (sp?) machine that had nice fortune telling reels but it was missing the knobs and dispensing portion for the rolls of mints. Is this a machine to run away from?
