Title: Bally Proslot 6000 88FF error code
Post by: dassvo on May 17, 2010, 09:31:06 PM
My Bally Proslot 6000 has an 88FF error code.  I tried saferam clear but it didn't work.  My main U28 and U43 chips are both dated 2004.  The Clear chips are U28 27C2001 02-09 and the U43 clear chip is 27C2001 02-09.  Are they compatible?

Did you hold the Test and Psuedo buttons down while powering up with the clear chips in? that date on the chips is probably when that set was made not the year of the chips, we have the ones needed for the Mains you have if needed

Yes I did hold the TEST and PASEUDO buttons while switching the power on.  How can I get the correct saferam clear EPROMS?  Also I've read that if the 88 error code does not clear then I will need a new MPU board.  Is this right?  And how much does one cost.  Also how long can a Bally Proslot 6000 be turned off before the battery and memory are effected?  Before the 88 code I had an 81 error code.

Thanks
D

well i would check the battery because the 81 error is a low battery tilt and the 88ff will clear with the clear chip but if it keeps coming back you will need to change the mpu not sure where you can get one bally has done away with the platform. i would try to replace the battery then clear the ram. set it back up.

I see people are still reading this old post and may be headed in the wrong direction...88FF is a dead battery...Replace the battery and do a safe ram COMPLETE clear. Very common problem on the bally...contact me if you need parts or help doing this...

81 is Low Battery needs to be replaced !
88 is Catastrophic Failure and can be cleared with the correct clear chips !

I agree - a new battery and a compete ram clear should do the trick

Before you do a safe RAM clear ,under DS1  switches 1 to 7 off, 8 is on and then perform the procedure for RAM clear.  When it's doing well put back the switches in normal game mode. 1 is on and 7 to 8 are off.

I hope it will help because it happens always that error here in our workplace when the battery is dead and I have 12 machines running in good condition right now in cruise ship.

Great advise..but only if you have leave in main chips..most home users here do not..then you need a set of safe ram clear chips..contact me for either or instructions for either..

You only use the dips if you have "Leave in mains" all in one main chips...but they do not support the ticket printer...otherwise they are great...I have them if you need some..

Steve, What chip & who did you get it from? I had no luck getting one to print ticket if not running SAS.
