Ok old battery was reading 2.88 and 2.90 new battery was 3.1 I ran the reset 6 times and now all i get is display netplex link is down.  Frustration...  I wish it would do the same thing it might be easier to fix. lol.  So  I will wait and see what you all think.

Display netplex down is usually a power supply problem

I so badly wish that you bad a clear and key chip handy.  Now that we know your battery is good, I personally would attempt a clear and key before buying another MPU.

One thing for sure, with a 2.8 voltage reading -
the problem was NOT the battery... rotflmao

Well the old saying still is king . Only having one machine and diagnosing the problem a bitch. In my opinion if only one machine is what you have then EXTRA parts need to be gotten . As in   A   key chip  / clear chip / extra power supply / CPU board /  stereo  amp board / reels / assorted buttons / bulbs/ and so on .    Just like having a second machine .    One  thing is for sure  .  Something will fail and then its a bitch with out extra parts to swap out to try

Buzz I have no idea what that is.  The guy I bought it off off said he will send me a whole new tray to try next week.  I so need to learn more about this thing.
I need to find a slot owners convention/swap meet to get and know how to use  A   key chip  / clear chip /  pick up an extra power supply / CPU board /  stereo  amp board / reels / assorted buttons / bulbs/ and maybe a glass kit or two so I can change out games.

Use extreme caution in this arena...especially if you get addicted to things easily or are the least bit OCD.  Smiley

DJDOOGIE, I'm not an S2000 expert, but I seem to recall Foster saying that running a Netplex auto-configuration might solve this problem.
I see that he posted earlier in this thread, so perhaps he'll jump in and either confirm my suggestion or correct me.

You said that you had reseated the connectors in your first post, but didn't report the Netplex problem until reply #24. Is it possible that you might have jiggled something loose? You might want to double check the connections again, particularly the Netplex connectors. (Do this with the power OFF.)

I would also suggest trying a clear and key before buying replacement components.

DJDOOGIE  A clear chip does exactly that clears all errors from the machine. Key chip is needed to reprogram the machine. If you will PM me your address I will send you a set.

I'm still not convinced you have a bad MPU. When your doing what you call a hard clear and it tells you to press the test button for 3 seconds ( it always takes about 6 seconds ) and then close the main door, does the display change to something else ??  When you latch the door, are you sure your getting the latch all the way down to the bottom ??

Boy I forget easy.   Do this, just lift the door latch then close it, ( you don't have to swing the door open ) do this 4 or 5 times

Doug  I will mail you the clear and key chips this afternoon.

Today I turned on a S 2000 machine ( like yours ) and got a " Net Plex Down " error. ( like your getting ) I thought what the Hell it was working untill I got to switching Base chips around trying to help Joey.  Looking around I found the problem, NO  MPU installed in the machine. This made me think, are you sure you have your board all the way in ??
If it is, pull it back out and inspect all the pins on the back plug and make sure one didn't get bent.

Buzz,
After late last night I went over everything I could touch inside all connectors connected, nothing looked bent, felt loose etc.  Game has been playing great left it on last night and still plays good except taking my money lol.  I turned it off tonight we will see tomorrow how long the gremlins stay away.  Thanks again to everyone that helped.

I didn't do anything magical I just made sure things were tight opening the door numerous times (I didn't know all I had to do was unlatch it) asked WTF alot with no reply from the machine or the dog.  I didn't find anything loose but it works and it usually does for a little while no specific time or nuber of spins. I will turn it on when I go for my run in the morning and see if it works when I get back.

I should have explaned, opening the latch and closing it clears one error and only one at a time. That was the reason for asking you to do it 4 or 5 times.  If you have more than one error they stack on top of each other.

Good work
