Title: S-Plus Game Help
Post by: dnystrom on February 09, 2014, 12:02:24 AM
I'm a Nubie and would like some help and advise with our s plus
The original game was a Double RWB 2 Coin.
I have now changed this to a Triple Diamond Deluxe 3 coin.
The GAME Prom is the one that was running the D-RWB and now running the Triple Diamond Deluxe.
The REEL chip was changed to a ss6289 (97%)
All is working well but my wife is complaining that it's running too tight compared to the D-RWB.
Is everything ok with these chips or do I need something else for a game/Reel chip?
So here I am for some learning.
Also could someone point me to the hopper/credits setting for this Triple D Deluxe?
Thanks!

Dave

Tell "the wife" to keep playing....is she getting more than 97% back? Probably not...not for any length of time anyway. These chips are deemed "97%" or whatever percentage you have, over a span of like 10 million pulls. Don't worry...things will change. Just keep playing it...

Well wouldn't you know that she hit a big one but nothing happened except the candle lit.
So I need to set the CREDIT and HOPPER.
Where can I find the info for this game chip set. It will credit smaller amounts but didn't do anything with the 2100 coin win. I just reset it. So any info would help with the limit settings. I want a max 400 hopper limit and a 9999 credit.

Hi Dave-

The SP (GAME) chip controls how you change options (hopper limits and the like).  The directions to change hopper limits vary based on the SP chip in your machine.  Please post the number of your SP chip and we can get you pointed in the right direction to change credit limits.

If you need help determining the SP chip in your machine, please see the following page:

http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm (http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm)

Note, you can determine the chip numbers without removing the MPU board, as described on that page.  Also note, NEVER remove the MPU board with the power on -- ALWAYS turn the power off before inserting or removing the MPU board.

Also note, there must be zero credits on the machine to change hopper limit settings (and most other settings as well).  You must play out or cash out any credits on the machine before you'll be able to adjust the limits.

OK! The Game is SP782
The Reel is a ss 6289
So, last night it hit a 2100 coin payout and no Credits just a freeze and lit candle so, I'm assuming
it's now hand pay. The smaller wins do accumulate in the credits window.
I would like the hopper to pay 400 coins max and the credits to the max amount.
Everything else seems to be working as it should.
I just hope I have the correct GAME prom thats compatible with that ss6289.
We have had this machine for at least 7 years and wanted a new game to play.
Thanks for the reply!
Dave

Dave I could just out and out ansewer your questions and you would learn very little or I can try to give you the tools to ansewer your own question.

Go to the home page, about half way down on the extreme right side you will see a box, Rick's FAQ's. the first line down is IGT On line Game Bible.open it and you will see a page listing all the different number of coins used  in different games, open the one you are looking for, now you see a long list of the different game themes, open the one you are looking for ( In this case a R W & Blue or a Triple Diamond Deluxe ) Now it gets interesting, see the picture of your top glass, well right above that picture it tells you the Type game you  have, now you must use a GAME (SP) chip that supports the Type game you have. ( Here's a hint, one if your game kits is a Type 0 and the other one is a Type 5 ) Please remember in most cases a Game (SP) chip will support more than one Game Type.  You lucked out because the SP chip you have supports both a Type 0 and a Type 5, if it didn't your game would not work.

Here is a link to the SP list and all the different Type games http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=68.0  Now to quote Tom Hanks " Huston We Have A Problem " The problem in this case is you said you have a SP 782 and that SP chip is not on the list. Is the list missing this chip or did you make a mistake ??   :103- :103-

Yes I DID! It's A 872!
The game came with a 1048 but wouldn't even light so I put the 872 in and worked!
I'm asssssuming that the 1048 was for a newer board.

The SP1048 is a chip normally burned onto a 512k chip actually and
requires one to move the eprom socket jumper (E15-E16) to work correctly.
It also uses a specific SET058 chip to enable the bill acceptor.

Your older SP872 eprom can use the readily available SET015 to get the bill acceptor going.
There's more to it really but all you'll need to get it running.

The Bill Acceptor is working fine. It's the credit accumulator and hopper payout I want to get set correctly.
Is there a MENU Structure posted for the machine somewhere here?

Switches 1 & 2 on the MPU board set your Credit Limits.
See this link below...>>>

I think I have the docs I need to either check or set the limits.
The dips were set correctly. 1-2 on the rest off.
So is it typical for this machine when it hits a 2700 coin jackpot
to register no credits and straight had pay?
I know the hopper can't pay that much out.
I need to navigate to the credits and set it to 9999.
Thanks!
Dave

Yeah...it kinda depends on the insert sticker you have in the topbox glass for the jackpot.
You don't want too many credits accumulating or it'll take forever to play them out.
I usually set max. credits at 1000 (999) and max. hopper payout somewhere between 400-600.
Many times there's another insert sticker on the reel glass for max.hopper pays.

I'm not that concerned with the hopper as with credit limit as this machine
is a 3 coin play and we go through 800 credits fairly quick. Could change the Denom
to lower than 25 cents but just wouldn't be "original". The RWB was a 2 coin so we have to get used to the
3rd coin.
Thanks for all the info!
NLG is about 30 miles from our house

Yes, in a typical setup in a casino, they would never have the hopper pay out that many coins.  You can change that limit, however, but it's not unexpected that the way it's currently set up is to have a limit below that amount.

I'm not that concerned with the hopper as with credit limit as this machine

For your SP chip, the hopper limit matches the credit limit.  Newer SP chips allow you to set those separately, but the SP872 only has one setting that controls both.

If you haven't yet downloaded the PSR that Bunker attached in Reply #9, please do so.

You'll likely also want to download this file (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=2336) -- it's an Excel spreadsheet created by NLG member r273 that helps to make the PSR easier to understand.  If you look at the bottom of the Excel window, you'll see different tabs (sheets within the spreadsheet) -- the SP874 page that's in there is close enough to guide you to the hopper limit setting on your SP872.  Again, there MUST be zero credits on the machine in order for you to access and change the setting.

Yes I have looked at the excel sheet before but didn't find the chip there but now with the info you have provided I printed that info out and put it in my book. That book I have is getting more and more pages in it by the day! Thank you for the guidance and all the help in getting me to understand how stuff works with this old machine. I this it's a good one to start out on.
Again Thank You.
