Yes...you should need a Type2 SP game chip for Haywire games.
That HAS to be a mistake in the Bible?!?!  Scratch Head

To clear a [65-1] error code, just open the door and press the little white button
on for 1-2 long seconds while humming a tune in your head...

I'll bet he gets a [65-2] after that which means he/she has the wrong SP chip or a mis-matched pair.

He installed a SS4490

The PAR sheet for the SS4490 (attached) confirms it's a Type 2 game.   propeller

Thanks Buzz for all your help.  Hail
You were absolutely correct, once I put in a type 2 game chip the machine started working properly.
Installed an ss4490 and sp0805, fixed the intermittant connection at backplane connector for the 7/8 vac power (which kept corrupting the game chip) and now the machine is working flawlessly.
To bad the local casinos' machine wont pay out as high as this one is! Next is trying to figure out how to reprogram the eprom and get the marquee to display
something other than "EXP LINK DOWN". And thanks to all at NLG for the wealth of information that is available here as well.

The blue"marquee" display is the player tracking LCD display.
Do a search for "player tracking messages" - I heard from a little "birdie" that there's a
member on this wonderful website that will program any message you want to pop up in that!

heres a picture of the 2 units behind the payout glass
Yes it is an Acres Gaming unit. part number is 801-027-00 Rev A.
right now the card slot blinks red and display reads "EXP LINK DOWN"
The only connection to machine is the 110 volt AC.
I have searched the forum for posts regarding programming this unit but only thing found so far
is for an S2000 not S+. I do have older laptop I use for chip burning. just need some info on correct software and procedure for RS232
connection, that is if that is what protocol to use.

This unit can not be programmed like the Master Com. It requires a back end connection.  no no

He means that it must be connected to an actual casino player tracking network system to work, or in short, you're not going to be able to get it to display anything else besides the error message currently displayed with your home setup.  You'd likely be best off just covering the whole player tracking panel with some black formica or similar (there have been many threads in the past here about covering up player tracking panels).

Nice looking machine, by the way.
