new  I have a Haywire deluxe that seems to pay out much more than it takes in. Also seems to go into haywire a lot. Is this where a clear ram chip comes into play? What can I do to fix this, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Help And how do I reset credits to 0 without making it pay out? Tried the reset key and just goes into diagnostic mode,

NO, a clear chip is NOT needed, and there's nothing about the payout you can change with a reset key...the payout is determined by the reel chip is currently in the machine. If you can tell us what reel chip you have now, then we can tell you what percentage payout it is and offer some alternative chips that may be slightly lower in %.  Then you can post a Want To Buy for a different chip on the Classifieds forum and see if a vendor can help you out.

Careful what you wish for though, a home game is no fun if it never pays!!!   no

Keep playing it. It'll turn around.   yes

"M" slots didn't have any special reel action features such as "nudge" or "Haywire" or "free spins".
I think he posted in the wrong forum category?
If he went into the accounting mode by turning the key while the door is closed -
he could find out how the machine is performing.

Also, see here to find out how to determine what ss and sp chips are installed...>>>

IIRC, coins paid out divided by coins in equals your working hold percentage.
So, 1600 coins out, divided by 1800 coins in = 88.9% hold.
Is that formula right?
But then, working hold and theoretical hold don't often match up until 10's of thousands of games have been played.
Ir seems to me to be a rule that brand new machines on the floor pay like mad for the first couple of weeks.
This leads to ulcers for management and the vendors, which is generally a great delight to the floor people, and a lot of unnecessary work for the mechanics to check the machines to see why they are not 'performing'.
I used to tell them it was overshoot spikes due to migrating flux, and that would clear out in a week or two.
Many slot managers who came from the pit, or accounting would often believe that....

Jim and Bunker - I just wanted to help him out since I'd seen no one was on...then I replied like it was an S+   Silly Me!   Didn't even see what forum he had posted in until after!  face in palm

Really just wanted to stop him from clearing his machine unnecessarily or getting "reset key happy" and changing anything that would later be causing himself problems!

That's okay CV!

I'm wondering what his machine play numbers are in the accounting mode... Scratch Head
It could be that the machine was recently cleared before he got it?
I'll betcha if he played that puppy for another 3 or 4 thousand pulls - he won't win as much! lol

I think you're right on track....he needs to just play it more, and then KEEP PLAYING IT!! It'll turn... yes

I'm curious as to how long he has had it and how much he plays it! We get customers calling saying "Something's wrong with this machine! It's just paying all the time! I'm never this lucky at a casino! Something has to be wrong!" We just tell them to keep playing and call us in a week if it's still "doing it"....we don't hear back from them!  Tongue Out   Except for when we get their call with the opposite complaint!  rotflmao

In a home setting, it is hard to play a machine as much as even the "not-so-popular" games get played at a 24/7 casino....Bunker, you see the numbers and can attest to that I'm sure.

Exactly CV!  yes
As far as removing the credits...there area couple of ways to do it but it depends on what the guy can do.
If he can install an 8-pin socket on the motherboard and clear the chip with a programmer, then that could erase the credits?
I can't remember off-hand if the credits are stored on the motherboard's 8-pin 24C04 chip
or the CMOS ram chip on the MPU in the U51 location?

I heard grounding out the CMOS chip on a butterknife could scramble up the data and force the MPU to reset itself but I've never had success with that method.

Another way is to make a coinless hopper and let the modified wheel go through the hopper optics.

The easiest way is to just use a clear chip but if they have a DBV, then they would need a proper SET chip to re-enable it ...among other things...

Finally, when he turned the reset key, he was in the accounting mode  - not diagnostics.
One cannot clear the credits either way unless the machine was in "Hand-Pay" mode.

I've moved this to the S+ category.

A RAM clear chip will not affect the payouts of your machine. Every spin is an independent event, and the outcome of the previous spin has nothing to do with whether the next spin is going to be a winner or not.

And how do I reset credits to 0 without making it pay out?

Power down, pull the CMOS chip out. Put it back in, clear the 61 and the credits will be gone.

I suspect he's looking to change his hopper settings so he can generally key off credits.

I'm always concerned, however, when people complain that their home use machines are "paying out" too much. That usually points to something which is a really bad idea.

I agree with you Poppo.
Until he tells us what chips are installed, like I asked in the 3rd post of this thread -
for all we know, there could be tournament chips in there?

OK I pushed the reset button until the number 4 came up in the coins played  and the first number set was 4270 and flashed number 2 or number 2 and flashed 4270 second set of numbers were 0779 and didn't flash   as for the credits I am not worried about that.  if those numbers are not helpful I will pull out the mother board,  I really appreciate your guys help, I am new to this but a quick learner. Thanks again

SS4270 (95%)  is for a Double Jackpot Haywire not a Haywire Deluxe

Mystery solved!   Sherlock Smiley

Post a Want To Buy in the Classifieds forum for an SS chip for Haywire Deluxe (and indicate how many coins your game plays) and one of the vendors may be able to help you out!

I noticed also that the SS4270 is a 95% chip with a slightly better win frequency... not 92.47%

Yeah, I did a copy/paste of the wrong one. Now fixed.

oldsdr said the award glass IS for a Double Jackpot Haywire but it has the wrong belly glass.

So basically we have a high % chip to begin with, and it's just 'doing it's thing'.
