Title: S2000 Progressive with Spectrum II and multi-denomination
Post by: Foster on March 08, 2011, 01:43:25 AM
I figured out a how to use multi-denom and Stand alone progressive for each denom in use
This is how I did it

Denom Details $1,$2, $5, $10 (until I decide to clear it and lower the accounting denom)

I set up the controller part first 7.3.1
set it so your VFD shows this for each denom

Game 1 denom $1 Level 1
Stand Alone : Level 4

Game 1 denom $2 Level 1
Stand Alone : Level 3

Game 1 denom $5 Level 1
Stand Alone : Level 2

Game 1 denom $10 Level 1
Stand Alone : Level 1

These are the level settings under standalone setup that I used in 7.3.3

Level 1 (for the $10)
Limit $500,000
Current $51,000
Percent 5%
Base $42,000

Level 2 (for the $5)
Limit $250,000
Current $25,500
Percent 5%
Base $21,000

Level 3 (for the $2)
Limit $100,000
Current $10,200
Percent 5%
Base $8,200

Level 1 (for the $1)
Limit $50,000
Current $5,100
Percent 5%
Base $4,200

I am sure you can reverse the levels and it may still work.
When I change denom on the machine the values change on the spectrum and also the add percent only goes to the current progressive level.

has anyone ever hit a progressive at home what does it do anything? does the progressive reset by itself? does the spectrom say that it hit on top?   i like that you can change the amounts on every level my progressive is set to 1,320,000 at 5% on all 4 denom.... it started out at 1 mil.....

Sorry the Spectrum II does not respond like a Cham II+, or least it does not on my s2000 I can not even program messages for it., I gather the I-game can actually have messages depending on the version of Spectrum used.

When my Cham II+ received the Jackpot Signal it would cycle between Jackpot or Winner (I forgot which), jackpot amount, Current, current amount being the base amount.

I set up a  dual progressive  on a $1.00  3 credit  double diamond deluxe . my mom hit it .  i set the progressive lower than the top award would have been. mistake . it added the top award and the progressive for the total amount  then reset itself to $1000 were i had it set.The total hit $5144.00

I have a S2000 Triple 777 as you can see from the photo in the upper glass it was a progressive. Can you tell me what the unit might have been ? And can I set it back up as a stand alone Progressive. If so can I get the parts to do so....???

I just came across your post.
Post a picture of the back of your top glass with the progressive display.
showing any labels on it.

I think it is a Mikohn Cham II or a II+ (Stand alone) display, is there any other hardware in the top box connected to the display.
If so pictures of it as well.

Thanks it is a Cham II I have the software ver 2 now I just have to put it on the right computer so it will work. I have a issue with the machine now only one amber light is on with the boot and the game will not start up it goes into error mode with the eeprom alarm. I did not get back to it as of yet. I would like to get the slot back up and running the multi denomination works just fine with the touch pad need the insert for 1,2,3,5 cent....

Turn off your flash for a better picture.
It looks like you possibly have the SGxxx GME1&2 chips in the wrong sockets?
Or if they're NOT OEM chips, the ns speed of them ( the "devices" )  are too slow?

Pics say: EEPROM DEVICE ERROR 0x4?......

and... Be right back I forgot! :5- :200- :279-

Ok... SOME CRITICAL DATA MAY BE LOST

I think you should be able to turn the reset key again and see if the info in the VFD changes, it may take a few times to clear a few errors, and it may then ask you to push the reset button on the MPU for a few seconds. Maybe that is all that it will need hopefully!

EEPROM is referring to the little 8 pin dip device on the motherboard in the machine. It the above does not work it may be bad?

Ok thanks for the help I did find a bent pin on the mpu board fixed.. Now back to the progressive now it is telling me link progressive down... Sas progressive down. I was looking at the settings on the Sas and I can not turn it off just 000 to 255 I have tried 255 and 000 no luck.. Set game 1 and game 3 to link progressive and it just tells me link progressive down
could it be due to not having the progressive unit programmed? Cham II + I do have the software just not on the computer as of yet....

Your machine is looking for one or more progressive controllers.
Post back what is listed under Key Config Menu 7.3.1, you may have more than one controller configured. a SAS progressive controller is configured for sure, not sure if a second one is configured as well but I suspect it might be.

Please post a picture of the inside of the award glass including detailed pictures inside the top box.
mainly interested the progressive display.
I need to know if it is a Cham II, II+(SA - means Stand Alone) or III.

I have had a Cham II+ (SA) on my S2000 mounted in a frame setting on the machine and also mounted in my Top Dollar topper. in place of the Spectrum II

Primary SAS Down is because you have Enhanced Validation Enabled under 7.2.1.1

Change that setting to System.

Still need to see what version of Cham setup is in the top box, post some pictures of the top box and any components related to the display.
I can tell something is missing, could be a harness or another logic board that interfaces to a multiple machine linked progressive system.
Which should be a CON2I or such, that could mean your progressive display is either a Cham II, III and not a Cham II+ or Stand Alone

Cham II and Cham II+ (SA - Stand Alone) look almost a like
The Cham II+ has more IC's, Connectors, and a few more LED's near the power connection.
Both cham II and Cham II+ come in 4 parts
Power Supply, A main logic board that is either mounted on Power Supply or in a metal box, LED display with a smaller driver board mounted to it.
Cham III is basically one piece and updated design of the Cham II.
I do not know if they made a Stand alone version of the Cham III,

First let me say Foster you are awesome! :259-
Your post on multi denom progressive gave me an easy install of my stand alone unit.
I do not even know which unit I have but it works perfectly. I was wondering if there is a way to change the display color. I noticed when the game is booting up the display is red flashing "no Data" and when the game is in play the display is yellow. There are dip switches on the back of the unit will these do it?
Here are some pics of the P/N and Display
Thanks
Rich

Dip Switch closest to the EEPROM or power connection controls display color
All off green
3 turned on red
1 and 3 turned on orange

I was wondering if there is a way to change the display color.

Depending on the chip in your Spectrum display, you may also have the option of an automatic scroll between all three colors.  Check out the following thread (and be sure to read the additional pages in that thread for additional details) for more information:

Thanks for the thread that is really cool.
Now that I got may Spectrum going I have a Mikohn unit that I would like to set up. Anybody got any pics of where the wires go? It has a display and a power supply with a board on top of it with about four of five cables to attach.

Check the Mikohn progressive section of the forum. There are hundreds of posts there.

Make sure that your Mikohn unit is a stand-alone progressive (like a ChamII+) or it won't work without a separate controller.  Again, see the Mikohn section for more information, and feel free to start a new thread there for questions related to your Mikohn display.
