Here's an interesting Uni I just repaired for a guy in Vegas.                                          (By the way, the Uniman is now living in Nevada)
This machine is an Uni Ultra Series. Originally the theme was Fiery Doubles.
But some company somehow used it for promotion.
Extra lighting was added in the topbox and the candle rigged to be on all the time. Cherry symbols were covered with a "Smokeaway" decal.

The fellow who owns this machine would like to find the original "Fiery Doubles" belly and top glass.
I have "Hot Doubles", but not "Fiery Doubles".
If anyone knows where to find it, please let me know!

Actually the power supply was smoked.
I replaced it.
Other than the glass and extra lights in the top box the machine was not modified. Expected to find a free credit system or some mod to add credits. But it had coin entry and a DBV-145 that was removed. The top glass was plexi and the belly glass was too.
The reel strips are falling off and they were mounted wrong on each reel. Looks like someone took them off and just slapped them back on. Told the guy to get some 3M doublebacked poster tape and remount them to their proper position. (Uni's use tape)  knockout

Well Well, how things get around, if you want some history on that game, I can give you some, it came from Kewadin tribal casino in Sault St Marie, MI, about 5 years ago, I bought it there, brought it back here with about 100 other Uni's (both Ultra's and mixed older), it was a working dollar game I sold for $75 to a pinball guy in the town I am in with some other IGT's and he  converted it to a quarter he told me, he said he bought a hopper off a guy cheap and made it work, he sold it via a pinball message board for $400 as a quarter, well his conversion must have been a bust as he gave the guy my number and told him I refurbished it, I explained this was not the case, he insisted I was mistaken, well being the nice guy I am I simply explained how it happened, the game was missing the hopper he said and had a tilt code and wanted a warranty repair, well that day the coin I flipped in the morning came up tails, so even though I explained I didn't sell the game to him or as a reconditioned game to the guy he bought it from, he said I was just trying to get out of fixing it, well, once I faxed the receipt with serial numbers to him and showed him that I sold the game for $75 he was pissed, I told him I would look at it, but I had no extra hoppers to sell, (the other one was m.i.a.) he brought it back, I put a hopper in it and cleared the code, he asked me if bought 5 IGT's I had shinning like a brand new penny if I would take it back for $75, well I gave him $200 off the deal and the next week some people from Jersey came down looking for a cabinet as a show demo machine for a smokeless ashtray they were trying to sell at trade shows, they needed a game with 12 or 24 volts as that is what the ashtray was available in, I sold them that game for $50 without a hopper and they had what they wanted, they sent a pic at the Vegas show and had it lit up, I wish I would have kept the boards out of it now, but my guess is there was some wires ran to power the ashtray, but there is a slant top that matches as well I seen in the same pic (btw) the strips must have been pulled to put the decals on, those backlits are better than the WMS  reels but still not made for pulling off and on much

The guy that wanted you to do warranty work on the machine he didn't buy from you!
He had to be a real A-----E...
I would of told him to go see if IGT would do any warranty work on it instead...lol
Amazing how he still went ahead and bought 5 more machines...

Jim,
I'm not surprised you stepped up and helped him even though he was (or sounds) arrogant about it.  You're a class act.

K+

Thanks,
Wayne

Wow, what a small world!
From my home state to Jim's place, to Jersey, and now in Vegas.

Sorry about bringing back bad memories Jim.      Quite a story!
Even if my coin came up heads, ( is it heads-good mood, or tails-good mood?)Anyways, I would have told the guy to take a leap. And I would have called the seller and give him a few choice words.
