Title: touchscreen, wire pulled off -igt game king
Post by: azgamingslots on April 13, 2013, 05:48:44 PM
igt game king 14" touchscreen not working, upon inspection i found the black wire pulled off the touchscreen edge -also pulled some of the surface contact trace with it, wondering if there is any kind of repair.  i've seen defroster repair in the auto parts store (a glue that adheres to the glass and allows the current to flow through the broken line) however wondering if this will work on a touchscreen as well?

if its just held on by double sided tape ??
why not just remove the broken touch screen and put a known working one on ?
or brand new one .. my time that i spent on some with broken wires or pulled off wires from "age" heat" etc
trying to repair one  resulted in short toss it and do a R&R of the touch screen .

yeah, i swapped it already, just hate to toss it, cuz it's practically brand new. was wondering if anyone has resurrected one, and what they did to fix.

As I mentioned. I have tried several ideas in the past without any "LONG TERM" luck.I Just replaced it. To make NLG member "JAY" Laugh again. The airsoft pistol is not something to be using around touch screens lol. They  make a mess.

If the foil is large enough, you can follow it back to the closest solder point and use a small piece of wire to jump to the next solder point. you will need a little soldering nohow but it will work.

It's one of things a fellow would have to see, but because of heat transfer I would try lifting the trace away from the glass and solder the wire back to the trace. That is a very small wire and a very thin trace so I would keep the soldering iron temperature low
