Hi guys, Maybe you can help me  have an older 19" touchscreen crt

how can I calibrate and test the touchscreen when I can't make a selection on it because it doesn't work?

Is there another way to toggle through and select an option ?

The screen works only for a "spin" anywhere along the bottom ,  any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks

first off need more info ??WHAT KIND OF MACHINE IS IT IN ??ARCADE /SLOT/ HOME MADE ??
is it a 3m microtouch or a ELO touch screen ??

if its the more common 3m with a little ivory color bar of soap size control attached to wires coming off the screen mounted to side of chassis of crt housing in most cases ?
check connections  to it .
check the Green wire coming of touch screen for good ground.
is the monitor in a steel case slot or arcade wood machine ??
if wood try to touch the metal frame of the CRT housing when trying to calibrate -
same goes for the steel cabinet .
if its sitting on a carpet floor or non conductive area you will have "ground" trouble very common .
when machine is on >>>>look at the ivory color controller<<< if its a 3m controller t/s.
you will see a green light on the controller . if you touch the screen in center the light should dim possibly go out for a moment . thats a good sign ..

as far as a way to enter into the test screen to get the two or four  X's to touch or circles in some cases or dots in some cases in  the four corners>>>> a REPEATED TOUCH of the screen<<< >>SOMETIMES << will trigger a touch screen setting .
other machines have a specific menu to go to to set the touch points <<>>>> a turn of a re-set key will bring up a menu .

I really need more info to bring you in deeper .. but most troubles are poor grounds of the screen itself and poor ground of the person trying to set the touch points-----trying to touch it ?
if in a casino type slot game etc .many games have the option of using the buttons to play if the touch screen screen goes out . others only allow certain movements to be used if the touch screen is dead .
check the grounds -hold the metal of CRT if possible when testing or setting touch screen.
one other thing to  try to bring up the touch screen points is a single button on a arcade machine touch screen
or countertop game as in JVL-MERIT-MIDWAY-WILLIAMS ETC . that you press that brings up the menu for the touch screen setting . other than a >>repeated touch of the center of crt <<<<< as i mentioned above that sometimes will trigger a internal setting that brings up the touch screen settings .
hope this helps but need more info of what its in and picture would help and brand of touch screen .
last check if the double sided tape holding the touch screen on ?? if thats the mounting the co. used to hold on the touch screen has not just lost its grip???  the entire screen may  not be in contact with the CRT all the way around .
if its a older model touch screen  and uses the >>real glass<<< not plastic  touch screen if its 10-15 years old heat from machine and time will let the adhesive dry up and the connection is gone. you can   actually pull off the touch screen in a corner with a small amount of effort . if thats the case it would need to be pulled -cleaned and remounted .
hope this helps .

Thanks, it's a IGT video slot manufactured in 1997

cathode ray tube  19" touch screen . I dont beleive it's a ground issue since the bottom is responding to touch

(anywhere 1 inch up along the bottom) and it's response is spinning the reels.

I have to run to work, will be back later  Thanks a ton for your reply, I am confident that we can test this

somehow and determain if it's the board or the TS without having to first buy both !

when machine is on without any credits on  it --most of the time -- to get into the menu . there will be a white button on the inside of cabinet somewhere . press it once
a screen may  appear ??.if not you may need the jackpot re set key to advance through menus or just keep hitting the white button or a bet button or spin button on outside of door ..until you see the menu for touch screen setting .. in most cases ..  once you figure the right combo of pressing white button or jackpot re set to advance menus etc one of the two will work or both

It may instruct you to center screen within the door bezel first with the horizontal & vertical hold --this is done first so if any alterations of screen done after the touch screen is set-->> will mess up where the actual points are <<if you play with the horizontal and vertical afterwards ..you will mess up what you set the points at etc .
then just follow directions it says to set touch points and save them .
you should be good to go ..unless as i said the adhesive has lost its grip ..screen moved or not in total contact etc ..

that's how you get into the touch screen settings .. someone else may give a better explanation but that's a typical one for the machine

tried every combination and nothing is advancing the menu  Scratch Head

but you are getting a menu then ??

if so what did you do to get the menu ??
trace back wires to jack pot re set key if that was used ..those switches go bad .
or was it the little white button inside cabinet ?

or did you try with door closed -no credits on machine and just turn jackpot re set key on a few times to get menu ??

or do you get no menu at all ??

more specific ??
