Title: pioneer jukebox

i got a few pioneer cj-v55 jukeboxs and all the cd changers ( pd-mv55 ) seem to be bad the lens on the lasers are gone on some of them and some will not read the disc any one ever mess with these. i have never had any luck with older pioneer cd players home or car. any one have any parts or know where to get them cheap. i found a few web sites but what they want for the parts its not worth fixing any suggestions

Hi Keith,

Generically speaking there are a few tricks you can try to revive a CD reader.

  • GENTLY clean the lens with a Q-Tip and 99+% pure alchohol
  • Clean the bars and gears the optic assembly moves on. Re-lube with a lightweight oil such as 3-in1 oil
  • LAST RESORT: Turn the TINY adjustment pot on the side of the optic assembly.

DO NOT push hard on the lens assembly. It's floating on tiny springs and easily damaged.
DO NOT use WD-40 or heavy greases. NO automotive greases. A LIGHT amount of white lithium is OK
DO turn the tiny adjustment pot in 1/16 turn increments
DO mark the starting point of the adjustment pot in case you have to start turning it the OTHER way. ;)

Turning that pot adjusts the current to the laser. Too much and you let the magic smoke out.  :25-
