I turned on one of my Game Kings yesterday and got a low battery message.  I keep my machines off all the time until I play them.  When I'm finished playing them, I turn them back off.

Does keeping the machine on extend the MPU battery life? Scratch Head  How long do I have to keep the machine on to benefit from the "charge"? Help

Thanks,

Dave as I understand it, you would have to keep it on for a looooog time, NO charging system in a Game King.

I don't know why I have this idea, if I read it on this site, had a dream or vision or what, but I think keeping credits on a machine drains the battery. Case in point, I gave a lady a Bally 5500 tournament machine, 5500 are known to eat  battery's in about a year, she  has been playing that machine for over 3 years without a battery change. Tournament machine doesn't have any credits stored on it.

And you would be right buzz, if credits are left on a machine when it is turned off, the credits are just more information or data that the battery has to power in order to save the information. Hence - more information = more battery usage.

I don't think it makes a difference if there are credits on the machine or not.  The battery is used to retain all kinds of data, not just the credits on the machine.

I would think there wouldn't be a difference because zero is nothing but it's still a number that has to be remembered

This is one no body will ever agree on.. But personal experience..ifthe machine has credits on it and you disconnect it from power the battery will die faster. This is my experience on the 20 machines I own over the past 10 years.

Thinking about this a little more (I know, scary thought, right?), another thing I do is configure the she-ott out of the machines.  I set all 13 denoms with a variety of every game, plus, each denom has a different set of max bets and payout percentage.  I also set up every possible progressive as well and also have Bettor TITO configured too.  There's nothing out-of-box on my games and it takes me about an hour to configure just one.  So I wonder if all the configuration too takes away from the battery life?  That's a lot for that little ole battery to retain.
