Looks awesome.  You need to patent your idea and start making lots of them for us that want to convert our machines over.  I checked out the other thread and that machine looks awesome.  I knew there should be a way to get lighting down to the coin tray.

It looks like this has been a pretty popular thread and now wish i hadn't been sick yesterday so I could have been commenting but oh well.

The blue light looks really good with backlit reels, but I doubt it would look so good with unlit strips.

Black light tubes were really popular with Bally machines in Britain in the late 1960s (yes, I am that old). The reel strips were printed with fluorescent ink and they looked really cool in dimly lit locations like pubs and clubs. They wouldn't work so well in casinos with bright lighting, so perhaps it was just a British thing. The top and belly were lit normally. I tried a black light in my Bally, but without the fluorescent strips it looked nasty.
