I have an older Bally Continental 4 reel slot machine that I just picked up. It accepts coins up to all 6 coins, but when you pull the handle it flash's tilt and the light on the payout glass flash, then you get and error code 41 then 1. This will repeat till you reset the hopper board. I believe this is a Bally 2000, with the #E 1216 6 11 model number. The tag on the side is missing, I took these model number off the front of the reel assembly.

you have a e-series continental.  the 41 indicates a problem with the reel reader - do a 5 test using the test buttons on the hopper control board - if you get all 0000 on the win meter you have a problem with the io board or the reel mech boards.   if you get a 1 and some other numbers then you most likely have a bad reel reader.

I know that I have 1 bad reel reader board. The machine worked a bit once I bought it. Then the 2nd reel wouldn't stop. I moved it to the 4th reel and the problem moved. Since then I had to replace the hopper assembly due to a bad motor or gearbox, kept blowing the hopper fuse on payouts. now its just accepts coins, but tilts and gives the 41 & 1 error codes. Are the I/O boards the same from machine to machine if its a 2000? I'm use to working on the older electrial machanials with contacts and relays

IO boards can be changed - if you know you have a bad reader why IO board?

Well I found one of my problems. There was a broken wire on the rear molex plug going to the reels. The error code 41 is now gone, and I'm back to needing to have the 4 reel reader card repaired. Now sometimes after you spin the reels and they all 4 come to a stop, the machine will flash tilt? Is this still due to the bad reel reader card on my forth reel, or do I have another problem? The machine does not show an error code, just tilt and all the jackpot payout lights blink...

if the reels are not reading properly - the machine will not accept coins - insert coin light will not come on.  For it to just go into a TILT with no code - that is unusual.  You say you need to fix the fourth reader - so?
