Help!  I'm at my friends house and he has two 5500 slots. One is not accepting bills.  It lights up green but spits all bills our.  There both dbv200 heads. I swapped them and the machine worked and accepted money so it has got to be the head. Is there anything I can try to fix ??

I have had some luck with cleaning inside the head. If it gets dirty it won't accept any bill. I clean with a soft paper towel and a very little windex. Good luck.

Play sesame street..... One of these things is not like the others.....
Double check the dip switches, check the rev of code,

I would then start with $1 bills. They are the most accepted.

I agree with Jay, check the dip switch settings depending on what denom bills you are putting through. Also the programming might not be set up for the newer bills, so try some older $20's or higher.

Thanks the problem is that it did work with bills before and now stopped. When I swap heads it will work so the problem has got to be in the head.

I agree with your synopsis that its the head.

It could be the dip switches got moved. Compare between the two heads to make sure they are set the same as the working one.
If this was an IGT I would throw out that the ID which is settable on the head might need to be changed. Again this is dip switch related - make sure its the same as the other working head.

Secondly It could be that you are now using newer money and the bills are not recognised with older software. Try a $1 or go with OLD 20s.
The sortware is in the head.

As earlier suggested Clean - I am not sure windex would be the way to go. I would just use water and a q-tip.

Good luck.

Jay beat me to it. Windex will damage the optics. So will alcohol. A Q-Tip slightly dampened with water followed by a dry Q-Tip is the way to go. If a cleaner is necessary, put a drop or two (not more) of mild liquid soap into the water before dipping the Q-Tip and follow up with a water-only tip to rinse and then a dry one.

Jay and I have our info directly from the source: Op-Bell's wife, who is a JCM technician. yes Hail

I cleaned the glass portions of the head with a q-tip and plain water.  It really wasn't that dirty.  Here is what is really weird.   After all the cleaning and jiggling the head works - kind of.   Pete has brand new 1974 bills of all denominations (1, 5, 10 and 20)  The head will not accept any of these bills where the other 5500 and his new I-game take them without issue.  If I use regular bills that I had in my wallet the machine takes them! - Colored bills new old doesn't matter.  It seems that only these really old bills that are brand spanking new -  will not be accepted.

So Pete's happy cause it works with "normal" every day bills.

Strange huh?

It could need calibrating. You would need one of those special sheets of black & white paper and some instructions to do a calibration. but it might be worth it.
