I have a great working Fortune I manufactured in 1983. Just recently I got to up over 250 credits. This is a 25 cent machine. Now with over 250 credits, anytime I get 4 of a kind, full house, 3 of a kind it wants to pay out my coins from the hopper. Is there a setting to where the hopper won't pay out and just give you credits? I only have about $15 worth of quarters in my machine. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.....

Here is a photo of my machine.

River rat:

I am a little confused.  In this post did the game pay out ALL the credits on the machine OR just the most recent winning had?

Once you reached the maximum credits on the machine, a number set by the software program, the machine would pay out any winnings that would make your credits more then the set maximum as coins out of the hopper.

The old Bally 3 card rack had a maximum credit limit of only 100 credits.

It wasn't until much later, such as the IGT S Plus Slot and PE Plus poker, that you could set the credit top limit manually up to 9999 credits by using the test button and key switch.

VERY interesting.  So if my pre programed limit was 250 credits and I had 240 credits in game.  I get a hit for 15 coins, would I get ten more credits AND a 5 coin payout

OR

Would all 15 coins be paid out to me with that hit?

I learn something new everyday.  Thank you.

All 15 would be paid out of the hopper because the 15 win would bring you over the credit limit.

I understand completely now.  I am about to buy my first Fortune 1 in a week and anything I can learn is a plus.  Thanks again.

BadBaud:

I just wanted to let you know that I picked up my Fortune 1.  Mine must be older than yours since it does not store credits.  You pay, you win, it pays out from the hopper immediately.

Oh.  ok.  I get it now.  Since all of my old slots pay out immediately I like it they way that I have it with no credits.  Now I am on the hunt for some new or rechromed coin trays.

If you have a tray get it chromed.

If you don't call Larry at 702-363-9998 after 11AM M-F and maybe he has some suggestions as to where to get one.

Thank you Bad.  I will call Larry since there are no Chrome places in the North East that I know about.

Any motorcycle shop or auto restoration shop could get it done.

Great tip.  I am thinking about having all of my coin trays chromed at one time.

Make sure they don't block the mounting holes.

Excellent tip.  I had a water pump chromed for a motorcycle and that is exactly what happened.  Even after drilling out the exrta chrome that sucker leaked like it was alright.  I will make a not of that or even ship with bolts in trays as a remiinder.
