Hi Everyone, Help

I've just recently purchased a Konami Knock Knock machine and it was working until the onboard batteries failed.

I've performed a reset, but now the machine says: Play disabled - Unable to contact site controller.

Would anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,
CJ

After a CMOS battery change you'll need an el-key to reset the machine. Any chance this was provided with the machine? If not they are rather difficult and expensive to get

pardon my ignorance, but what is an EL-Key?

Is it the physical cabinet key for RESET and AUDIT modes?

An el-key opens a gate to allow programming options. They are extremely specialized for the KO Ami games. Kinda look like a coin battery with a small handle

So the only key I received was the one for the side of the machine to reset Door Open messages etc and it also allows me into Audit Mode.
It is a is a circular key which sort of looks like this.

What is this Gate you speak of? and is the programming you speak of done on the machine or by using a serial connection.

Would you please explain a little further about what it is that I need to do.

They only key I have looks kind of like this.

The el-key goes in a special socket on the main board your battery is on and allows you to enter programming g mode on the machine, no external connections needed. If you post a couple pictures of your machine inside and out we can probably identify the model and el-key needed

Something tells me the "Unable to contact site controller" message is similiar to a SAS Link Down (in IGT world) and is not related to the battery change.

The statement of "I recently purchased" and "working until the on board battery failed", is almost contradictory in itself. Was the game REALLY working for you as a standalone machine?

That's a little different than the KO Ami game boards I've seen before. The ones I'm familiar with have a socket on the edge of the board where a coin type programming key would go and I don't see that on this board

By recently purchased I mean about 3 months ago and by working i mean yes it was fully operational in stand alone mode I had racked up $1600 until the battery failed.

What options would i be looking for.

There is a little green switch on the front of the board that appears to do a RAM Clear.

Once in there i can't really see any options to disable site controller.

Is there anything else i need to look for.

Thanks again for the assistance.

The fact that it is still looking for a site controller tells me something in the machine thinks it is still connected to a backed system somehow.

P.S. My previous comment was directed at the people who buy a game, never get it working, then hit us with a load of errors...only to tell us 40 posts later that they've never actually had the machine up and running/playing perfectly. If it was working for you as a standalone, then we're one step closer.

Bugger. I managed to find a manual for a newer machine, but it didn't really help.

It does say it hasn't received a heartbeat and play has been disabled so I gathered it must still be looking, but I really don't know what i'm looking at, it's the first machine i've really had a play with.

Well, I had three of these in the long past.  YOU do need the key it looks like a battery on the end of a dongle.  Simular to what you silence ambulane alarms inside with etc. You need to be able to set up crucial settings with this to get back up --otherwise you are dead in the water.   There are diff. keys as well. I do not have any,  My games were sold with those keys a long time ago.

Yes, if it is a CF card, I can't see the pic that good to tell. The 2.0 platform went to a CF Card - General Ram Clear 2.0 is the one we have and others have had success with it, the 1.5 platform is the one with the EL key

I have a CF card, and there is a spot for a second one which is empty.
What types of additional photos will help. Or if someone could show me what an EL key looks like I can try and find the location.
I'm located in Australia on the Sunshine Coast.

Thanks

The spot for the 2nd CF card (which is mounted on the underside of the board), is where the Clear CF goes. During normal game operation, it remains empty. The 1.5 used a EL Key.

What is the model number on the plate on the side of the machine? Advantage 2.0 or Herculite 1.5? It looks to be the same board in the 2.0s we have, as I just pulled one yesterday to look at it.
