I liked them both, but if I had to choose I would pick David lee Roth.

Both had their issues with the VH brothers, too many big egos in too small a space to reach compromises. The aborted reconciliation in 2003 with Hagar was doomed due to Eddie and the booze, but that's the life of a rock and roll star... the last time I saw DLR was at the Grand Prix, he was headlining with a bluegrass band. Definitely a fall from on high for him. I'm waiting to see VH with Roth again if they ever come around, but I've seen Chickenfoot and Sammy with Mike Anthony a few times in the past few years, and those guys know how to raise the roof without Eddie and Alex. They come pretty much every year to Shoreline and pack the house, definitely the best show of the year when they come around. (I was in a rock band in the 80s.)
