Bought a piece of slot glass on e-bay. Seller shipped it parcel post - like this. No bubble wrap, just newspaper. Duh!

I don't know how, but it actually arrived intact.  Weird Eyes

UNBELIEVABLE that it made it in one piece. Silly Me!  I have ordered glass in the past that was bubble wrapped with peanuts in a fairly larger box and it arrived in several pieces. It was also labeled fragile. Maybe they should not have put fragile on it ??

On the plus side, it fit in the mailbox, and I didn't have to go to pick it up.   arrow

WOW, FREE SHIPPING????
That's the opposite of most ebay ads.
Usually they sell the item for $1.00 and charge $20.00 to ship it.
This way when it arrives broke, they only have to reimburse you the cost of the item.
$1.00

Professor   I know what's going on here: Poppo is secretly a post office employee, and he and they arranged to have this shipped so that the Post Office could use these pictures in their national ads as an example of how careful and loving they are with each and every package...  stir the pot / get cooking Weird Eyes  frying pan Crazy

Either that, or the postal employees simply failed to read the words "glass" and "care" on the package, which in carrier transport speak mean, "drop repeatedly," and "toss hard," respectively.

You're lucky it fit. Otherwise the mail carrier might have thrown it at your door -- after all, it's shaped like a newspaper. arrow  Silly Me! Tongue Out

Only 50 acres of it. While I do enjoy the peace and quiet, it is sort of secluded and I have to go into town to see other humans.

Here is a Goolge image. My land is outlined. The front of the house (by the arrow) actualy faces away from the main road. It's really a really nice view sitting on the front porch. yes

The only bad thing is that big patch by the right side property line is a creek. When we get really bad rains, it overflows and even covers that back field. Last year it got really bad and got a lot closer to the house than I cared. no

A couple more. By the time I decided it was time to leave, it was too late. The first picture is after the water had receded. I could not get out since the front field had flooded too. the second picture is by the house looking toward the road. And yes, that ladder was there in case I had to get on the roof and wait for  Help  Now though I realize that it would be best to stay put, as the road was washed out in both directions.

We lost two cows in the flood and had a lot of fencing to repair. Some people were not so lucky. And while nobody was looking for a handout, nobody (even those who lost everything) got so much as a penny in aid from the County, State, or Federal. Everyone was basically told it was not a big enough disaster to warrant any relief.   no

Some of the less fortunate neighbors. The first is a mobile home that is now sitting inside of another house. The second is where the mobile home used to sit.
