Title: Igt m need to reset CMOS error code
Post by: Bdietz on July 11, 2013, 10:33:06 PM
Can anyone tell me how to reset the CMOS error code? The manual says I need to clear the CMOS ram by depressing the switch on the CMOS board but I don't know where this is located. Any help is appreciated!

Reset button is a white button located in the lower left area on a vertical board, see the picture included.

Do you get any error codes in the display?
Can you get into any of the test menus when you push the white button?

I get no spin 1 as an error. I can get into the test menu but i don't know how to run any tests.

Those reels spin via an electric motor. The timing for the kickers to stop the reels is done with a fiber roller that follows a cam.
Those fiber rollers get worn out and break over time. Many here have replaced them with a bearing. Here is a poor picture of a broken fiber roller. It was taken when cell phones first came with cameras.  :25-

We did replace these rollers on each actuator arm assembly

Ah, Good Job...
Do the reels spin and reset the kickers when power is applied to the machine?
If I remember correctly, the motor spins the reels and the solenoid on the kickers stop the reels in sequence.
The following cam (with your new bearings) just reset the kickers for the next spin.

I posted the wrong sequence in my previous post. Must be CRS

It makes a sound like they are resetting but the reels do not spin and then an error message of call attendant appears.

Is the motor froze up?

Error code  ' Reel 1 " means the reel actuator is not working properly.  It is the kicker that spins the reels.  When you get that cleaned and checked and working you will likely get a code for one or more of the actuators.   Isnt this an M+ ?  I have parts for these macines  [ M and M+ ].  Gordy

No i don't think it is an m+. how difficult is it to clean the kicker and get it working? This is the first time i have tried fixing any slot machine and i could not get the reels to come out only the actuators.

How do i know if the motor is froze? Is there something i can look at or do I have to test it somehow?

Ok, i was able to remove the reels and this steel bar dehind it does spin one rotation upon start up of machine.

Good, Now check the kickers.
If reel one is sending an error, try moving that kicker to another position, like 3
Then see if you still get the reel one error or if the error moves to the new location.

Gordy, thanks for correcting me on the proper sequence.
It's been a long time since I had a M series.

Neonkiss is better than me.  That is the way to find a bad actuator.  If that procedure works, fine. If it does not , it could be that all 4 actuators are bad.  When they sit,  the grease gets hard.  It takes a long time, but I clean them with carb. cleaner and then use WD 40 and often let it sit for a few hours. Be real careful you dont cloud the optics with spray. Also check the continuity of the actuator wires and the solenoids.  In casinos these were the main problem.

I tried moving the third actuator to the first position but the same thing happened when i tried to turn on the machine. It goes to reset but nothing turns; however the screen was completely blank so i could not see an error code. Also, i went to switch numbere two with number one and discovered that the brown plastic wire was off (see pic there is a blue wire but the brown plastic wire is missing that goes over it). Is this the problem?

All 4 actuators are wired the same and are interchangeable.  Compare them and you will see where the wires are supposed to go and make them all the same.  Those brown plastic strips become brittle and crack, so you may need to solder new pieces of wire to make connections.  Later machines had stronger wires and discarded the brown plastic ones.

Since this piece is missing is that most likely why the reels don't spin or do the actuators only stop the reels from spinning? I am just trying to figure out if this is my only issue or have i just begun...

Btw- do you know anyone in the central PA region that can fix these (it is only a 3 reel)?

Pretty hard to answer when I cant see exactly what part is missing.  Chances are I have the part if you can identify it.  Look at another actuator.  If a wire is missing, solder a new one in there.
The only longshot repair guy in central PA is Tracy Etter  717 732 6022.
Does the inside of your 3 reeler look like the one Hartman posted ?
