Title: Need help with 60-1 jamma set up
Post by: KYPinhead on April 01, 2013, 03:55:13 PM
Hello all,

I'm trying to convert a Centipede upright to a 60-1. So far I have done the following:

Installed & wired a 16 switching PS.
Wired the jamma harness to the PS & player 1 & 2 start buttons, player 1 & 2 fire buttons & the 4 joystick switches.
Plugged in PC monitor

Everything is wired properly, but none of the buttons work.  The game boots up properly, I just cant do anything from that point.  I did put bit 4 of the DIPSW in the on position, it went into test mode, but switches still won't work. I did notice on the Icade pcb that LED 4 stays on, is that normal? I just bought this kit a week ago. Any help would be appreciated!

I thought that too, but ground is good. Found out the lit LED is normal.

if carefull you  can jump coin sw at edge conector to ground and see if it puts up a credit if it dose that means you  have  bad wiring

I'll give that a try tomorrow. I have a feeling the Icade is bad. Thanks.

That's impressive. Probably not the board then.

Some of the jamma harnesses out there are pretty cheaply built, I have had a few bad ones over the last few months, so it could be the connector on the harness itself, at least that's where I had issues on them.

I checked the harness for continuity, actually from the board traces to the switches, checked out fine.

Problem solved! Coin 1 switch must be connected to add credits (I had coin 2 switch wired but not 1). The switches won't work without credits. Hopefully this thread will help other newbies.
