Title: Bad potentiometer or capacitor?
Post by: BCD on April 07, 2012, 07:27:40 PM
One of my CMI CC-16E's rejects about 20% of the coins I run through it when the sensitivity control is full counter clockwise.  It rejects everything when the sensitivity is turned full clockwise.  So far I've turned the sensitivity control from full stop one way to full stop the other in case there was some corrosion, reconnected the two wire and four wire JST's on the front face of the comparitor, made sure the test coins are aligned with the sample coin, and cleaned both sets of coils.  There has been no improvement.

What are the chances the sensitivity pot is shot or there is a capacitor that is going bad?  Or, is there something else that could cause this rejection?

Thanks for any ideas.
