Have a S2000 that I have never had work. After a clear chip the screen says to close main door. Close main door and message remains. Things I have tried:

1) Put both optics in good machine ---- they check good.
2) Shorted Bill validator door switch.
3) Shorted Belly door switch.
4) Found drop door cable shorted.
5) Before clear chip put machine in diagnostic mode for door optics and flashed light in reciever ---- number in window flipped from 0 to 1. Would indicate cabinet part of optics good.
6) While in diagnostic mode built a test jig and placed tx optic right next to rx optic number in window never changed from zero. Test jig was tested in known good machine and works. This would eliminate alignment.
7) Replace MPU module ----  no help.

Am thinking the mother board might be next step.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. This is a stumper.

Hello!

What is the exact message on the screen?  It doesn't say "Closure M", does it?  There are a total of 3 door switches, I think.  Main door which is the optics you talk about.  There is a contact switch for the cash can - I've seen that switch removed and the wires spliced together and stuffed under the cash can box.  Then there is a another contact switch for the belly glass door in the upper left corner of the belly - sometimes I've seen that switch removed also.

The message on the screen is "close main door" after a memory clear chip. Close the main door and message stays on screen indicating not seiing the main door close. The bv switch and belly switch have the wires shorted.

Try using a digital camera and look at the IR LED (TX)
It would be a nice bright white spot in the screen( you may see it flicker a little)

The error message your seeing may not be the real problem. I would 1st try disconnecting the 7-segment board. Then swapping the I/O boards beginning with the door I/O .

Error messages on 80960 machines are simple I/Os (inputs and outputs) associated with the SENET system. The SENET system is responsible for most of the simple I/Os in 80960 machines. If the SENET system has a problem in any of its various components, it can become frozen. If that happens, the system typically responds by reporting one of the previously noted error messages. You may solve this problem if you’re working with a Vision or S2000 machine by replacing the 7-segment display. The 7-segment displays can be damaged by “hot swapping” internal components.

You said you did a clear chip, were you able to complete the clear chip on the game? Did you get a Cmos error?

Sounds like the belly door switch is not connected or the wiring to it is defective.

Check wires around the back at the monitor and the back or the bv box. Also check the wires at the main door hinge. And there is a white Molex connector going up the back of the game in the harness on the right side.

Found today there were wires on the switch behind the cash box that were cut very short and not easy to see. However, the other end of these wires is gone. Could this be the problem and if so were should these wires go to ?????? Thanks again for all the help.

If the BV door switch wires are in tack The cut pair could be for the BV can switch. The switch was located behind the cash box in the center. some games are configured not to use them. But if the game worked before they may not be needed. Tug on the door switch wires around the main door hinge you may have a wire broke under the insulation. going to the belly door.

Voltage at the cabinet optics connector?

For my S2000
Cabinet optics about 4.67V purple and green wires
Door optics about 4.67V red/white wire to chassis ground, 4.67V green to chassis ground (door), 0 between the 2 wires.

I have two machines doing the same thing. They came from the same casino and I'm sure its a matter of figuring out what the casino techs did to the machines before shipping. I suspect a broken ground link somewhere in the machine as this was the case with many S+ machines. Will keep plugging until found. I appreciate all the help from the members. Any other ideas or suggestions please let me know.

The only other thing I would suggest is trace each connector connected to the Motherboard, and make its going to the right device

Even thought the Vision S2000 has 2 or 3 SeNet and NetPlex connectors each on the motherboard, they have to have right device plugged into them.
Example the BV Netplex cant have a printer connected to it, etc.
