Figured it out. I look in the cabinet and found a compact flash card. A closer look revealed some very small writing saying it was a ram clear card.

For Info purposes, it needs to be a RAM CLEAR 1800 or newer for BB2

No idea what a ram clear 1800 is, but the CF card has SCLR-000-1810 printed on it so I am guessing  its the last four digits that we are talking about.

I should pull my finger out and request a manual from the importer, but they are usually to painfull to deal with.

It's like 34MB even when compressed.
Email box is only 25MB - won't fit... hissy fit

Here's the link where I downloaded it from...>>>

you are correct; we "in the biz" would call what you have an 1810 ram clear card; you should be fine with that version.

when you say waiting for game config do you mean thats one of the pending tilts or does the game seem to still be booting up?  the BB2 can take close to 15 minutes to boot depending on the program, they're especially long on the first boot after a ram clear.  you can speed the boot up by pulling the game CF out of it's slot when you have the ram clear card in.  once the game gives you the message to remove the ram clear card and put the OS back in you have to have both the game and OS cards in though.

I have booted it after a ram clear, and it says Waiting For Configuration. When I go into the menus, Setup -> Game Setup - it says please configure some games before changing game setup options.

I would call the gaming techs over, but they don't have any WMS games in the casino's here as far as I know, and even if they did they would not be SAS protocol.

I ram cleared the machine, then just put the OS and Game CF Cards back in. I configured the asset numbers and devices but cant find anywhere to configure a game. I am wondering if there is some sort of security around the game CF cards.

have you set up your "credit setup" options yet?  we always start by setting the date/time, then set up our devices.  once you have those set up you should be able to complete the credit setup; that's where you'll find the game payback options.

Bingo! Credit Setup was the one. Who would have guess that game config would have been under that menu! Thanks!!  Hail

There is one thing, printer is a ithaca epic 950, but there is no option for that in the menu. I set is as an epic 850 but it wont print. Dont need it now, but will need to figure it out eventually

i don't have any BB2's with ithaca printers, all of mine are either Gen2's or Universals and they are set up as Netplex printers on the game.  might be worth a shot?  i honestly don't know what all of the options are because i just look for Netplex.  i'm on my way out the door and probably wont be back online until Sunday but feel free to post up or email me directly if you've got other questions!  g/l & enjoy the game!

Cannot get that printer to work. I think its a printer problem. I called the distributor for WMS they reckon they are going to call back. Not holding my breath though.

hey AndyP, i don't have any new ideas on how to get the game to see your 950 printer but i do have an email in to one of my more helpful WMS support techs to try to find out what you should be looking for in the device setup.  i'm pretty sure the game should have an option for at least the 850 and 950 printers; some of our older WMS BB1 games show an option for the 750 still. propeller
Scratch Head another thought i had is about your game and OS software.  you mentioned that this game came from a test lab; is it possible that you have a "lite" game and/or OS version or maybe even a bios or jurisdiction version that doesn't have full support for all the setup variations a casino might order?  if you're comfortable posting up your various software versions we might be able to isolate your issue? Scratch Head 3

 cheers

You are correct, I just pulled the CF cards and written on them is "Mystical Fortunes GAME Test Software Only". I would be happy to post versions, but there is nothing on the CF cards.

The senior tech from WMS distributor was supposed to call me back, still waiting.

I did some reading on the 950 printer, and looks like it can be a netplex printer also, so I tried that option too. Still no good. I am convinced there is a problem with the printer itself now.

the best way to get your program versions is from the machine.  enter either the attendant or operator menu and touch the "diagnostics" button, then touch the "program diagnostics" button and you should get a list of all versions of software running in the machine, including peripheral devices. lightning bolt
since you have test lab software i would suspect that the proper drivers, etc. aren't included for the peripheral devices. yes
i have no experience with the Ithaca 950 but is there possibly a jumper or dip switch that you need to change?  something that simple can definitely keep the machine and printer from communicating to each other. frying pan
another option would be to install a different printer that you know if functional.  watch out for a new harness needed though if changing printer types. ttth
good luck AndyP cheese

Now telling me "Save for all paytables required"

Printer works now. Setup as netplex, and a power down seemed to fix it. The other protocol must have sent some data to it to make the printer behave strangely.

Dancing Party The Wave You're almost there AndyP!  Ecstatic / Top Award Ecstatic / Top Award

to get past the "save for all paytables required" message just go back to the credit setup and look at the bottom of the screen, there should be a box that reads "save for all paytables" somewhere in there.  once you press it it will pop up a message warning you that it's going to disable other paytables.  press "OK" and exit back to the game and you should be all set!!

Yay, working now!! The Wave

Thank you for the help.  Hail

Now one last question, its not sending SAS events (that I can tell, but that could be my software). Is there any way to look at the SAS packets on the Machine itself? I know some machines have protocol analysers built in, but I cant find it on the BB2.

Welcome Back Andy

Optioning WMS games is a bit of a pain - Have a look at this thread for the Bluebird1 SAS settings http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=11885.0 - I think for BB2 its more or less the same.
If Your mahine has Test/show sw though not sure if SAS comms is actually implemented.

Regards
Ian
