I have moved over from the old site and unfortunately I am still having trouble with my bill val com error. I have done everything that was suggested to me in the old site. But before I go and ram clear a working machine to find out if the board has a problem please could you help me with a step -by step guide on how to ram clear properly. And once I have ram cleared what are the settings that have to be reprogrammed into the machine. are they all under the setup menu or are there other settings else ware.

I should mention that the Ram clear described on that message is for the older RAM clear cards.  The newer cards with 1350 or later automatically clear NVRAM and EEPROM, the only thing that needs to be decided is the monitor timing.  If you have an LCD display, it doesn't matter what you choose, if you have a CRT, you should choose the Legacy monitor.

if you have another nxt board, can you try that on your non-working machine.  You could have a bad serial port in the nxt board.  You will probably have to perform a clear when you try the other board on the non-working machine.
