Title: "Bill acceptor not responding" message on a Vision Series.
Post by: CYRIL1973 on October 14, 2011, 02:36:22 PM
Hi,

I have several Vision Series, they all work great including their bill acceptor ( Ardac). Only one has been giving me problems for months, IE, the bill acceptor does not work, when I go through the options, it shows Bill acceptor: ENABLED.

Self Test
  4 I/O Tests
     Spin reels switch
     3 Auto-Configure Netplex Devices.
        Press Spin Switch 2 times.
display shows Netplex Auto-config in progress

Then comes the message " Bill acceptor not responding".

Has anybody already seen this message? Could anyone have a look at the manual and see if it is mentioned somewhere?
Thank you very mucH.

I'm used to WBA validators, but the one time I got that message was when I unplugged it without disabling it first. Check the power supply to it. If it cycles when you turn the game on then it has power. If it doesn't, check to see if it uses a seperate power supply or if it gets power from the machine. If it has power, but still isn't recognized, swap a good one from one of the other machines for a test. You may have a bad validator or just bad software on the validator

Thanks for giving your opinion. I will have a look at the power supply.

Let's be optimistic!

I have just had a look inside the machine. I hoped  there would be  a separate power supply for the bill acceptor but it is not the case. I assume there is only one power supply in S 2000, if it was faulty, the machine would not work.

I am puzzled.

To be continued.

CYRIL I too only have WBAs  with them sometimes you have to config the CRC.  When your in IO test Auto -Config netplex press the cash out a few more times to get to bill acceptor and go in there and find CRC config.

What happens if you switch this BV with one of the other ones you have??    WBA make sure the cash can is fully latched. I got a machine that was giving me trouble and turned out there was a screw laying behind the cash can holding it out just enough for the error.

First, due we assume that the rest of the machine is working as it should?  I've never seen an ARDAC in a S-2000.  most Bill acceptors are usually made up of two units, the part that accepts the money, WBA's have two parts that do this, the head and the transport unit,(the both of them form one component) and a second component the cash can , which stacks the money.  MEI (MARS) units have the same two components. So lets assume ARDAC has two components also. All of these are easily removed. Does the non working unit do anything like the working units? e.g. cycle on power up etc. any visible lites on?  do the yellow lites on the bill acceptor bezel come on? has the unit ever worked??  some things you can check:  all bill acceptors have to adapt to the wiring harness of the host machine. on an S-2000 there are usually three plugs involved, they would be located behind the bill acceptor housing, a two pin, a five pin and a four pin connector. these should go to the cable of the harness on the ARDAC unit. check J-10 on the motherboard, this is where the bill acceptor info. gets into the motherboard and onto the cpu board. you can go to the 2.2.6 version acct.  hit the cashout button until you see PV6, this is the software version that is in your machine, it usually tells you the type/ IDO/ version of software.  next, you can go to the I/O test 4.8.1  bill acceptor ,here you can insert a bill , it will hold it for a few seconds, return it and display in the VFD what it was. you can always swap one component into a working machine and verify that it is working.

Ardacs in S 2000 seemed to be a European custom. WBA are used in Ballys for example. I am talking about what happens in French casinos.

The machine used to work with an Ardac bill acceptor when it was in the casino. When I got it, the BA was missing. When I go to the options, I can see when and what were the last bills which were inserted.

When I plug a BA, it dos not cycle as it should be, it seems the BA goes forward, as if something pushing it out of its plug. Should I call a ghostbuster? :5-
Needless to say it never lights. The same BA works perfectly in another Vision.

Mystery....

Switch cash cans and see what happens.

compare what you have in the working machine to the non working machine first. establish if you have all the hardware and harness' for the BA to work. if all that is in place, then it has to be software or ????

Its not rocket science, don't make it harder then it is.

either you have all the parts for the unit to work or you don't.  if you do, then its enabling software or settings.

regardless, you have to tell us, so far no one has seen an ARDAC set-up, I was trying to give you a comparsion to our BA.

Good Luck

News:

IO TEST 481: I cannot access the BILL TEST, when I press enter nothing happens.

CRC CONFIG: Codes are demanded which I do not know.

Shouldn't I remove the plug where the BA is plugged, from the working machine and test it in the non working one? I am sure it has something to do with the BA harness.

One question: when the cash can is removed, an optic can be seen on the right at the bottom, what is the use of it?

I will try to swap the cash can as well, who knows?

Thanks.

On a WBA when your in CRC Config press cash out twice and on the VFD you will see it go to auto config ( something like that ) press spin button and it will do it's thing.

Jim Today I was getting a new to me machine up and working, the WBA wouldn't work so switched it with another machine. It would not work in the second machine. So pulled it out and marked it NFG. I thought what the hell stuck it into the third machine and it worked.  ( All three machines work ) I didn't do a thing to them but pull out and push them in.

I changed the bill acceptor lights, now it flashes when the BA is inside.

I am about to give up and to put a piece of metal to cover the entry hole.
