Scratch Head  Scratch Head  Scratch Head  I bought some backlit reels about a month ago and already have 4 bulbs that have burned out. I found out that all the bulbs on the 3 reels are marked 555.  My other backlit reels all have the XE 359 bulbs (those have to be the right ones). Any idea what the 555's are supposed to be for?

The xe359's are the correct bulbs, 14v. The 555's, 6.3v,  are probably just what was handy when they needed something. Burning out fast because they're burning too bright

I bet the 555 were nice and bright. I'm kind of supprised they lasted as long as they did.  555 is a 6 volt bulb that you installed in a 14 volt machine!  Go to Happs at this link and it might help you.  http://happ.com/lighting/91003700.htm

The #555 bulbs are a replacement for #259 which are used in the S+ player buttons
They are rated about 6-8V not the 12-14V that the S2000 uses for for incandescent bulbs or LED equivalents.

I did notice that the 555's are brighter when in idle mode, kinda looks cool - especially in the dark  Cool Cool Cool

But I'd rather stick with the XE 359! Thanks for the link Buzz  +1 (Karma, or whatever)

Unless you have a S+ or another machine that uses 6V bulbs, either toss them or give them to someone that needs them.

I dont need them in fact I have 555 and 658 bulbs sitting (the boxes are getting dusty) but the bulbs are nice and clean.

I for sure wouldn't leave them in your game -- if left on over time they could damage the reel strips from the excess heat they must be producing.

Good point.  +1 (Karma, or whatever)  I took all of those suckers out. I do have some ''minty'' strips I'd really hate to ruin!
