Anyone know the proper version and game chip combo to use in order to be able to choose from 13 denominations rather than the standard 4?

Thanks,

David

Basically any Version chip that ends with a "1"
and an SB chip that supports it.
Check your PSR sheet for your game...

well I was told that it also has something to do with the game 1 and game 2 chips, but I will check into your answer.

Thanks,

Actually, the SG pairs are good for certain games...you still need the correct SBxxx chip though or
the machine won't work correctly or match your strips.
Plus, you're going to need the 5-5-2 VFD display as well as an extra button on the deck.
VS011GX3 has an extra capability we do not usually see...fractional denoms.

Look at this excerpt for example...>>>

Denomination Acceptable denominations are 1/20ยข, 1/10ยข, 1/5ยข, 1/4ยข, 1/3ยข, 1/2ยข, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.25, 0.50, 1, 2, 2.50, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, 200, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 2500, and 5000.
NOTE: Fractional-cent denominations are only available when using the VS011GX3 version program.
A Select Credit Value button is present with the 7-Segment display type โ€œ5-5-2โ€ (IGT p/n 7511790x).
Pressing the Select Credit Value button changes the denomination value displayed on the VFD.

Bunker I think you missed his point....He wants to have 13 denom choices all the time while playing.

I think he will have up to 13 choices to choose from?
The PSR doesn't limit how many really so I'm not sure where this "13" choices come from?
I think that he'll be able to change it at any time -
provided he has the extra button installed on deck, no?

The PSR calls it the "Select Credit Value" button...

With pushbutton credit value selection you can use as many value options as the chipset is capable of be it 4, 13 or 30. The only limitation, as Bunker stated earlier, would be using a touch pad denom setup in conjunction with a chipset capable of more than 4 denom selections. The touch pad automatically will limit your options to 4 irregardless of the chipset capabilities.

so how do I determine the # of choices that I have? You say "as many as e chipset allows" Bunker says the SB that I am using will determine that. Are there more than one different SB chips for each game thay allows different amounts of denoms?

Generally it's the version chip that ultimately determines which denoms are available. I had a double diamond machine that had 13 denom options and all could be programmed for use. I don't have the game anymore, but I posted the chip number on here a couple years ago with the same question you're asking, except mine was "why do I have 13 denom options?". I remember no one had info on my particular chip at that time. Your player denom menu option will tell you how many options can be set by scrolling through and seeing how many players it offers. IE; Player 1, Player 2, etc

Sorry, I didn't address your SB chip question. The ONLY time I've seen the SB chip affect multidenom capabilities was in the case of S2000/Barcrest machines. For whatever reason, it seems IGT chose to make these machines single denom irregardless of the version chip installed. Maybe later versions of SB chips for some of the themes allowed for it, but there's only one SB chip for my game and it doesn't. Jim at Blueridge seems to be the guru on what chip combinations will allow what denom options. Maybe he'll chime in on this one of these days. I can tell you though that not long after setting 13 options on that Double Diamond machine I was asking myself, "why the hell did I do that?". Even on machines with just 4 denom options I rarely if ever use anything but the highest option and with 13 it cluttered up the VFD display. I'm currently considering converting all my touchpad stuff back to single denom just to limit future repair/parts needs

 Agree with Post
I totally agree...while the Touchcell pad is nice to have, I end up using
the highest denomination I've programmed, for over 90% of my pulls.
The money and time I've put into having one of these setups -
is not worth the costs IMHO.
I would have been happy with a single denom button but I think I'm like a cow sometimes -

OK..Fell into the answer or at least some conflicting info on this tonight. New machine I picked up today has a VS009GX0 version chip (ending in a zero should be single denom) SG000116 chips and a SB100055 3cm Double RWB chip. It is a multi denom machine and was working with 2 choices. I key chipped the machine and and went thru the setups and it allowed me to setup all 13 denoms. They all work with the denom blue button. And it is still a VS009GX0 version chip????

Video of it will be here in a few minutes..   Scratch Head Scratch Head

That's good coors!
So now we know that NOT ALL Version chips ending with a zero are single-denon chips.
You learn something new all the time.
Were you able to confirm it with a reader?
That Version number may be in the ASCII right-hand side of the reader display on the GQ-4X.

We'd be sure if there were PSR's of the Version chips floating around to look at...

It is an IGT factory labeled casino security tape secured chip from the Arizona Casino. No I have not read it in a burner.

That's awesome!
I'm going to stick a small label on mine that says "13-Denom"  yes

I just read it...it definitely is a VS009GX0 .

Try it with newer game chips and see what happens (in a machine that has them (leave your 116 in the board that has them)

I have a Crystal 7's game thats running 363 game chips and the VS009GX0 Version chip and I have the 13 denoms. Could it be that theres a batch of chips with this number that were an experiment or proto type that put in some machines? The only reason I ask is because not all VS009GX0 will product the 13 denoms..
