I have a 5 reel double stars machine,  When you first turn if on you get the netplex down error.  If you leave it on for a couple of minutes and turn it off and on it starts right up.  The green batter is at about 3.6 volts, and the button battery is new and checks at 3.0 volts.  My past experience with these boards is either the battery is bad or they just don't work.  This one is a mystery,  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to look for a problem.

I have a few 5 reelers that do the same thing...
I thought it was the caps in the power supplies going bad. Swapped out the power supply with a known good and it does the same thing.
I also noticed this only happens on a cold start-up. After the machine is up for the first boot up, you can power cycle the machine and it starts right up. That's why I thought it was caps in the power supply.

If anyone knows please respond. Otherwise I'll figure it out when it completely dies.

My machine does exactly that,  I replaced power supply also nothing different.  It is usually from a cold start runs with no problem,  turn it off over night and same issue.  Thanks for the response.

Which version MPU are you guys using. If it's the 1270 enhanced MPU, try turning it on for a few hours to give the green battery time to charge. Check voltage before and after, replace if neccessary.

Cowboy,
Thanks, Just the encouragement I needed to get off my a$$ and change that battery.
I knew it needed to be done and had purchased the replacements weeks ago.

I'm glad I changed it as it was showing the first signs of leakage. Small blue corrosion beads.
I'll let the machine cool down and see how it re-boots.

K+ for making me change that battery
