I am repairing a 5 reel machine, it does not use xenon bulbs,  it used regular wedge based bulbs from Chicago Miniature Lighting,  I contacted them they advised they made the bulbs but they no longer make them and do not make a replacement part.  I tried using some button bulbs #658 but they are not very bright behind the strips.  Does anyone have a suggestion of a brighter wedge based bulb that I can use for the reels.  There are several choices in 14v bulbs but I don't know which ones are brighter etc.  Thanks for any help.

try  #161 (0.16A) about double the brightness of the 658 (0.08A)

Which back light controller do you have?
if you you are not sure a picture of it can reveal which one is installed in your machine.
