Title: I need help with Bally 5000/ 5000 plus machines
Post by: pacman on March 12, 2009, 09:36:47 PM
I bought a large lot of non-working Bally slots and need some direction on getting some of them going. Most of the machines are complete but not working. So far it seems all of them have at least a little battery leakage on the board.
I guess after battery replacment I will need to do a ram clear and reprogram. I need to know if and where I can buy the keypad programmer I have read about. Also, does anyone know the ram clear procedure for these? Do they require ram clear chips? I have a burner so that wouldnt be a problem if I can find the files for them.

We have a Keypad available, also if you are planning on doing many of these you have your work cut out, the easiest way to clear the ram is with a simulator or bench tester as they are known in the industry, but there are different ways to clear the ram on different models (5000 or 5000+) and different main sets, but by far the tester is the easiest and you can test the board as well in it, we would be willing to sell ours if interested, before you start you do know that the power supplys are the weak link on them right!

How much would you want for the bench tester and a keypad? Is the bench tester a large unit or something that could be easily shipped?

method 4 was always working with my machines - important is to press the test button q u i c k l y when 'saferam enabled' appears
