Hi,
I have a Bally 5500 Fireball slot with the DBV 145 bill validator in it. The machine plays great but the will not accept bills. This slot is new to me so I don't know when it has stopped working?
When it is on and ready to play the bill acceptor's green light is on and it will feed into the acceptor but spits them out. The dip switch on the bottom of the acceptor head are all off except the last one in the first switch bank and the two are on, on the other switch bank.
Any Ideas?

Thanks again for all your help.............

is there a software version written on the chip in the bottom, or anywhere?  If you want to keep this machine for use with newer bills, you will have to upgrade to a dbv200 head and power supply, although the dbv200 is also discontinued as far as jcm is concerned.

Thanks,
Wayne

Sounds good, do you know how? I have a 200 head and power supply but now there is no power supply, it is pluged into the back board. Do I need adaptors?

you know, I think it is the lense? It has some scratch's on it. Would that keep it from reading the bill?

yes, bad lenses can cause that.  you are correct, no power supply, I was thinking in IGT language.

You're not allowed to use anything with alcohol because the alcohol degrades the lenses...
It actually "fogs" the lenses making it worse.
Q-Tips and water is all that's needed.
You can however, use alcohol wipes on the black rubber belts to help them "pull" in the bills better.

Thanks, thats what I have read in the past but I wounder if the previous owners used that to clean the lense? It is not foggy but scratched, would that keep it from reading the bills? I have one coming (145) and hope to solve the problem. Do you know how to put in a 200 head and power supply in a Bally 5500 that doesnt have a power supply outside the backboard?

nail because I have a Bally5500 with a 200 head.

just replace the head, no power supply needed on a Bally machine.  remove the 145 head, put in the 200, with correct software of course.

I think the transport will work but what software do I need? would they be the same for a IGT and a Bally? The 200 head is off a IGT transport so I am thinking it would have IGT software chip installed? stayouttadabuker said his has a power supply

No...I meant that the DBV200 goes straight to the main power supply for the whole machine.
The DBV doesn't have it's own power supply like the IGT machines.
Your 200 IGT head might not be the correct ID for the Bally machine.
This is a picture of the DBV's in a Bally 5500.
Click on the Bally5500_DBV.jpg link below and open it up
with Windows Picture and Fax Veiwer and it will be larger! >>>

You'll need ID044 for your Bally.

As has been said, you need a DBV 200SH head with protocol 044/045. No adapters, harnesses. or power supplies needed. Just contact one of our vendors and tell them that you need a 200 head for a Bally 5500. They'll know what to send you. yes

You can swap in out under 2 minutes, and that includes the time to move the plate on the bottom of the 145 head to the 200 head. Tongue Out
