Does JCM make software to accept Zimbabwe currency? This gives new meaning to the term HYPER INFLATION.

At the rate the US Government wants to spend money...  frying pan frying pan frying pan

Sadly, that note is probably good for a loaf of bread, but I am just guessing in a negative manner, so don't quote me.

I wonder if our cash registers over here could even handle that big of a number???  Scratch Head Duh! I PRAY  Hail Hail Hail that we don't even get close to that, but I have bad feelings on how long our economy will be so F :58-D!!! It doesn't matter which side is in power, we just have to cut spending, especially on stupid stuff! POLITICIANS on both sides are guilty and it is unexcuseable!  frying pan frying pan frying pan I am going to go curl up into a ball and cry!  bawling

Sadly, your guess was overly optimistic. According to XE.com, the government re-valued the currency again in Feb 2009, making the current ZWD equal to 1 Trillion old ZWDs. The exchange rate as of today for 100 of the newest ZWDs (which is equal to the value of the 100 Trillion Dollar ZWD bill above) is 27.5991 cents. Of course, you might be able to buy a loaf of bread for 27½ cents in Zimbabwe. sandwich

Imagine paying 271,747,991,782,340.73 dollars to pull the handle of an S-Plus -- ONCE. muted slap

Hey, if you wanted to reset your meters to 0 "the old fashioned way" then this would definitely work, just keep your eyes on the counters periodically to make sure you don't go over and have to go around again.   Duh! Duh! Duh! banghead banghead

I think I have mntioned it before - Ideally I would like to be able to rewite the note acceptance routines with the goal to be able to read monopoly or other faux notes for home use.
Basically ticket in of however many credits I choose.

Monopoly money could have theoretically been a good choice because of its universal availability, but it's too small. money

I inquired about that, because all the other currency handling companies have their own "funny money" for use at trade shows, etc. I asked if JCM would be interested in selling theirs, but they aren't. However, they will make software for anything, including monopoly money, for a fee. Could be an opportunity for one of our traders.

Here's a piece of funny money I happen to have laying around. This is a bit special - intaglio print, microprinting, hidden security features, full banknote quality. Designed for a product that never happened.

Cool Opbell,

That funny money looked pretty good. I bet at least one convenience store would take the funny money, especially in vegas!  rotflmao

It depends how much work is involved, how much security etc. Monopoly money wouldn't be much work. I was hoping they'd do it as a favor, since it was me asking, but in any case "fees" are negotiable. Fees can be adjusted according to the thickness of one's wallet.

Another question that I thought of... Using the Monopoly Example. What about any hardware changes besides the obvious software changes? Or on the hardware level would typical DBV200 IGT SS setups just work as is? WBA setups?

I gave up on carrying a wallet as the only thick part was the leather and credit cards, no currency!!!  Duh! bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

Hi All

My wife was born in Zimbabwe - Her parents were kicked out of the country when she was one and 1 they lost everything. Its very sad that one person can screw up a country so completely. Even if they do eventually manage to assasinate him it will take decades to recover. Before the currency de valuation it was cheaper to use money than buy toilet paper (Most shops are just about so you probably can find it anyway)  wave

Was very surprised to hear that there are still casinos left in Zimbabwe - From what i hear they are mostly frequented by expats that have money coming in from other countries

Bottom line - No much you are hurting in America things are much worse elesewhere - Anyway enough of the heavy stuff  hissy fit

Jay is there a specific reason why you want to use monopoly money ? It would probably be easier and cheaper to program a microcontroller to output the relevant code to the machine (IE emulate the BV) at the press of a button or keyswitch. I know for S+ and PE+ it uses a pulsed protocol (The newer machines would be a bit more tricky) Once you know the timing requirements it should be fairly easy to implement
Op Bell - Do you know if the protocols are avaialble publically or what the timing requirement are ? (IDO22)

Regards
Ian

Gambling is all about the sense of loss or gain.
My opinion is that a slot set to free play is an animated lamp....
For instance lets say you walk into a place and see a bank of slot machines .... you pay $5.00 to play them for an hour and your only reward for winning is lights and bells...
How many people would hang out for the hour ?

So when my I have a party Leaving a coin bucket full of tokens around is very much akin to the same; a few people throw a few coins in, but whoopy what have they lost what have they gained ? By the same token (exuse the pun) I don't want my buddies losing a bunch of money either - and of course if one of those things hit with a massive progressive I don't want to pay it out either....

My solution to date is to roll my tokens - I hvae a coin rolling machine. Everyone gets 2 rolls of coins - when they run out of coins funs over.  Its actually pretty funny to watch people be prosessive of their coin bucket. A win equates to more play, a big win and they get imortalized on my progressive......

I just think it would be fun to have a "house" currency that you could plug into the machine.
I am sure if I could TITO in with a bar code I could print the house currency around this.

This is also another reason I would lke to use a player tracking system - so I could say who the big winner is over an evening, the stats would also be interesting. How much has "Bob" won or lost over the last 8 months. I could always whip out the ol'e laptop and read the meters and gain the gross stats - ie Whats the actual percentage payback of one machine or the aggergate but who has won what is pretty tough to figure out.
