Ever bought one of these high priced pieces of shit? DON'T!!!
This piece of crap has been on my "Hit List" for a while. My wife usually uses it and has a lot more tolerance to crap than i do.
Today, while she lays upstairs recovering from surgery, i went down to the kitchen to make her breakfast.
A cup of coffee seemed GREAT. So I got the beans out, installed the filter, added 10 cups of water to this pile of shit.
I turned the switch, the grinder fired up (I suspect the neighbor can hear it).I went on multi-tasking, making the rest of breakfast.
This cheap-ass machine from hell produced about 5 cups of HOT coffee, then proceded to OVERFLOW all over the countertop, the cabinets and the floor.
I yanked the powercord from the wall and tried to control the flood.I carried it to the sink, while it's scalding my hands and dripping all over the floor, coffee and grounds. It drops into the sink, splattering me and the sink, counter, backsplash, blinds.
By this time I am HOPPING MAD. I hated this piece of FOOFY crap from the getgo. It took me the better part of an hour to clean up this mess.
But there is a GOOD part. It's the LAST TIME it will do this.
See pictures below. It grenaded nicely when I threw it to the ground in the garage. NEVER AGAIN WILL I OWN ANYTHING MADE BY CUISINART!!!

Funny you should mention "while she lays upstairs recovering from surgery". Mine is recovering from total hip replacement, so I though
I would share this with you.

I looked up Cuisinfart or Queifinart on consumersaffairs.com  TONS of complaints. I got lucky, one guy had his house burned to the ground by the same exact model number I just destroyed. Seems they don't care at all.
So the quest begins for a DECENT coffeemaker. No plastic taste,no leaking/overflow no fires, something tells me this wont be easy.
Might just buy a Bunn or other commercial quality unit. Tired of this crap from Cuisinfart, Mr. Crappy and Kraps...

And here I thought I was the only one with a problem with Cuisinart POS.  We bought a caraffe free coffee maker and loved it for the first 9 months until it went out and stopped making coffee.  There's $125 bucks down the drain.  I am  back using my $10 Wal-Mart special coffee pot.  Had that one for years.

Sorry to hear about you trouble with the Cuisinart.
I have a commercial grade Bunn and really like it. Makes a pot of coffee in about one minute.

We had a cuisenart wireless kettle. These have the plug in base and the removeable caraf. The base melted after about 9mths. The store I took it back too gave us a full refund as they refuse to carry the line anymore.
Kitchenaid is just as bad. I bought a stove, it was faulty upon delviery twice. The third was a GE.

Thanks for the links Smiley (K+ for that)
I will find a GOOD one to replace it with.Wife and I like a good cup of coffee with dinner or in the morning.
To be honest, i don't mind spending $175 for a QUALITY machine thats easy to use, easy to clean and makes a great cup (or 2) of coffee. On those sites you mention, they are pretty "picky" about machines and I do see some nice ones. I have a low to zero tolerance for crappy equipment (no wonder there is no Black & Decker stuff here). Some of the comments are "Plastic taste" flaking metal, burnt taste and the best one..it started smoking/sparking and two that burned the house down. How Queefingart can place this crap on the market is anyones guess...
I'm ready to go back to a pot of water and a MANUAL Mellita drip filter before I would have anything made by Cuisinfart.

FWI,  The dealership I work at for over 20 years had Bunn machines set up and catered thru a coffee business.  It became to expensive for their services.  The dealership went to sams I think and bought some bunns from sams and they have been in use for over 3 years now with thousands of hands all over them.  They have also saved thousands in just the coffee deal.-- My 2-cents---B.

You are right, the Bunn coffee makers are bulletproof. They were designed to crank out coffee all day every day. The BAD part is they keep about 8 to 10 cups of heated water in them at all times. This means at home it will pull about 100 watts all the time, not to forget that the coffee you are drinking is made with water that has been sitting in there for a day or more (home use). You can put them in Vacation mode, but they then take an additional 10-15 minutes to come up to temp...
The search continues.... (BTW  instant flavored coffee is not all bad )

That is true. The downside on having the Bunn is going away for weekend or more. We shut ours down if it won't be used for a few days and flush it out before we power it back up. Mine holds 30 cups of heated water!  arrow
But it is the best coffee maker I've ever had. yes
As far as the extra power usage goes, I don't have an additional 50 slot machines (most with video monitors) to go along with it, so I don't worry about it.  bust gut laughing

You have a good point there.....
Just thinking....will a Bunn coffee maker fit where the hopper used to be in a I-Game.......food for thought....

Frankly I prefer manual coffee. I use a burr grinder and either a french press, or a Chemex if I want drip. I didn't bring them up because most people want convenience, although one could argue that the Chemex is fairly convenient. Of course, it doesn't turn on automatically every morning and do everything for you...

Well I hate to be the dissenting voice here, but I've got one of those Cuisinarts - actually it's my second - and I like it. The first one did have its problems, I admit, including the valve in the filter basket clogging and overflowing as Kirk describes. I just removed the valve. I also had trouble with the timer board, which being a geek I was able to fix. But when I saw one on sale for $40 (woot.com) I bought it, as I'd had the other about 5 years. The new one has had a lot of things fixed on it and so far (6 months on) I've had no problems. I particularly like the stainless steel vacuum pot, which keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours with no heat under it. Frankie hates the grind noise, though. I can't run it when she's in earshot.
