Title: Bally Programming Keypad
Post by: MarkInAz on September 26, 2009, 06:07:24 AM
I'm trying to make do without a slot keypad but I need a little help with the connections.  I've found a Bally pinball keypad which looks a lot like the slot keypad except for the connector.   Can anyone tell me which pin are for what on a slot keypad?

I believe this is a general pinout for the Bally programming keypad and I cant tell whats what exactly.  This came out of the Bally 5000 manual.  For a 5X4 matrix they should only need 9 wire but it has 10, so there is a little bit of a mystery here. :103-

Hey hey. On the old site, was posted the schematic for the keypad. Maybe someone saved it. It is also located in some Bally V2000 video poker manuals. It is only a 9 wire as either #2 or #9 was not used, can't remember, I think #2.

Thanks Chris, I thought about it but I guess I'm just a cheap son of a B.  Do you have a weekly rental fee?  :72-  Actually I'm just to stubborn to give up at this point.   :25-

Humm, I tried a variety of combination but the game won't acknowledge the keypad.  I'm looking at this quote from the programming manual that say "turn the key pad connector around if it isn't recognized".  So I'm thinking how would the game know if the keypad was or was not connected?  :103- There must be continuity on only certain pins.  Maybe there is more than just switch contacts inside.  Anyone have a chance to ohm out their keypad?

Wonderful Jim, my hero :-)   Not to sound ungrateful but can you shoot it from the other end too so I can see the pin numbers?

let me know if you get the programming to work. My keypad does everything that it's suppose to do, but when I program in the setting and hit enter for some reason it's not saving it. I go back and look at the options and it's still set on the default...weird!

Just a guess on my part-  Most machines wont take the new settings if there are still credits on the machine.

nope, no credits on the machine. It's just weird that I can do everything but program this dang thing...it's starting to get me frustrated. I've followed the directions in the manual and it seems like it should be programming the dang thing, but it's not.
