I've lost or misplaced the cylindrical key that unlocks the door. I'm guessing I'm not the first poor soul this has happened to and am looking for advice. Is this a high security lock cylinder that would be difficult to drill out? Or, should I take the machine to a locksmith? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

If it were my machine, I'd just center punch it and then drill it out, depending on what kind of lock it is.
then ask a vendor from this site to sell you a new lock, with 2 keys....

Having never drilled out a lock before, I've been reluctant to try it without hearing "been there, done that" from someone familiar with this style lock. If it accepted a traditional flat key with teeth I'd already be drilling. But with a round key I don't know where the pins are. I'm afraid of drilling down the middle, not releasing the pins and then ending up worse off than I am now. I'll try the locksmith route tomorrow and if that doesn't work out I'll brute force it with a drill.

If the locksmith doesn't work, then drill that sucker all the way out until you knock off the nut on the end of the lock.  Then you can reach in with tools, and lift the locking bar.

Hopefully....

The locksmith was definitely the way to go. $30 total to pick the lock and create a set of new keys. No muss, no fuss and most important, no drill shavings to clean up.

you hit a home run there - most locksmiths would charge alot more than that.
