 jalpert  First off WELCOME to the forum

Two pieces of advice I can give you about a CDS

1  Get rid of it while it's still working,  ( ain't gonna happen is it ? )

2 Do not, repeat do not do any work on your machine with the power ON.  I suggest even if only removing coins from hopper to turn the power OFF.  IGT or Bally are a little forgiving, but a CDS isn't.  I have 6  CDS and 1 works sometimes if it's in the mood.

You might try cleaning the optics on your WBA. At the very top closest to you there are 2 small ears pull then toward you and lift the cover up. The optics will be exposed, I spit on a rag and wipe them off, others on this site will tell you to use water and a Q tip. ( to each his own )  One time I grabbed a wrong WBA and installed it in a CDS, that machine has never worked since then.

Yes the arm needs a spring, I attached a pretty poor Pic. sorry best I could do with what I have.  Ballpark measurement of spring is 2 inches overall length.  I think the spring will be very easy to install.

I am only guessing on this.  in the pic. you are seeing almost all the spring, it doesn't feel like it has very much tension on it with the arm in the full back position. Here again is a guess, but I would think the part of the spring you can't see is just looped over a post.

Just now when I removed my hopper, it had a spring hanging loose, it's just about the same spring you need for the arm. Why not give it a try.  If I remember correctly it doesn't take a whole lot to get the whole arm assembly. out of the machine. A large Allen wrench to remove the arm ( on the outside) 2 or 3 nuts on the inside and I think 4 wires to unplug.

You know all the arm does is trip a micro switch, exactly like the spin button does. As soon as you press the bet one button or drop a coin in, the machine already knows where the reels are going to stop. Makes no difference if you pull the arm or press spin button the out come is always going to be the same.

I  would try Jim at Blueridge Slots, he is on the East Coast, or Ben at Fannini Slots on the West coast. Both of them are members on this site and phone numbers are on the home page.

FWIW  I talked to Jim a couple of days ago, he said the air temp. was 105, he was in bed covered up, sweating his ass off, freezing to death. I didn't talk to him very long. was afraid what ever he's got might jump through the phone and get me.  Sick Sick Duck! Duck!

If you have a wba 12 this is a flash not an eprom If you have another cash can try it and make sure it is pushed back tight and if you dont have another cash can take some lubercant spray and spray gears on it and put it back in and try it it may take several trys to get can loose. if you replace bill validator go with a WBA 13.

with the machine off pull the board and  since you have the board out make sure the PLCC chips are pushed down tight they are the ones under the jumper board the square ones and make sure the board is in tight  when you reinstall it   Paul

Hi Mike, First thing I would do(sounds like you skipped this part  Crazy ) Check for screws,coins,bolts laying around in the machine. Check that power supply ,and connections. In the manual it tells you what voltage suppose to be where. I had a problem with the 24V ,so I unhooked the arm,CC,fan and something else...it was the fan. I know you have everthing to rebirth it,and make new chips  applause I would try that also. But,I'm leaning torward Stat,cold joint somewhere,or a loose connection.
