Title: Fall Chicagoland coin-op show 2008
Post by: dansgames on October 06, 2008, 02:33:10 AM
OK it is that time of the year again. The Chicagoland coin-op show is Nov. 15 and 16 this year. We are planning another get together of NLG members and friends at the Mc Donalds on Saturday the 15th. At the Spring show we had a great turn out with everyone bringing extra parts they had laying around to sell and give away. I will have another trailer load of S2000 machines including Visions , theme games and a couple of pink panthers. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

OK, DansGames has opened the floodgates for the next Chicagoland Coin-op Show and NLG pre-show meet. Again, members showing up at the meet, please bring any unwanted items to sell, trade or give away- up to you! Also if you are going to be there and need something, please list it, someone else may have one for you. Countdown starts today, I have attached maps of the show and MsDonald's meeting place. Hope to see all of you again and possibly some new faces!

Bobn, we would love to see you and anyone else that can make the pre-show meet. The maps I posted at the start of this thread will show you the way! Clay, I think I am off that Friday and probably could make a 1-2 pm lunch in the area if you are interested. Its always nice to meet face to face, makes conversations much more personal afterwards. Let me know, I know alot of you others guys showing up are mostly working but if lunch on Friday is a go let us know and we'll post a time and location.

 Dan (tacman)

P.S. Anyone from that area that can recommend a good all around restaurant?

If we meet at "steak and shake" i could probably afford
to buy a meal or two. Especially if Tacman brings his
Jackpot Limbo belly glass!  I'll definately buy, and scan the
glass right there at the restaurant with my laptop.

OK, well it looks like almost three weeks to the Coin-op show. We know Dan from DansGames will be bringing machines and Tollguy316 has a Barcrest he may part with if anyone is interested and some unknown as of yet reel strips. AS of right now I will be bringing a 9" Triple Jackpot kit complete with reel glass and a RT DDD 5 coin kit. I have two glass sets for 13" Bally Gamemaker, a GoldMine set and a Prince of Persia set (on hold). Will look through my boxes and see if anything else jumps out at me. Start listing any wants and haves to get things rolling, it will be here before you know it!

I won't be able to make it this time around.  Have fun at the show.  (I thought the pre-show meet at McDonald's was the best part of the day!)

For those looking for a hotel recommendation, I stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Geneva, IL which was very nice.  It's about 10 minutes from the McDonald's and show location.

Yes, how was the trip?
Did you see any IGT S-series AVP slots? Played a few at an Indian Casino, very nice.

My Vegas trip was AWESOME.  Had a great time.  Didn't win anything, but for the nine days we were out there, we didn't lose all that much, either!  We ate well, played a lot of video poker, visited a bunch of different casinos, and had an awesome time.  I can't wait to go back!

I haven't off-loaded my pictures from my camera and cell phone yet, but yes, saw a lot of new technology from IGT, Aristocrat, and WMS.  I got some really great pictures of the newest WMS Transmissive Reel multi-game machines.  I'll post them here when I get the chance.

There was a nice restaurant right next to the hotel I stayed at for the last show called The Country House.  It's about 5-10 minutes away from the show location.

Their website has their menu (it's in the left navigation pane) and info about the place -- here's a link (http://www.burgerone.com/geneva/).

Anybody going to the meet needing A Cham 2  12 cell display. One cell of LED's would get a little flaky from time to time but just moving the board would get them going again, sounds like a cold solder joint. Has back board on it. Just let me know if wanted and will bring it with.

05' Hyuindai Tuscon.....  I take that back .... They thought it was the fuel pump; but it is the " CRANK SENSOR"   ......  I can't take the car over 20 mph........   Bill

That sounds close.  Hope they are rite!.  Everything these day are driven of wires-By that I mean no accelerator cable etc..  On a diesel that would be a acc pedal gone bad.  On yours a crank sensor could cause that because it talks to the CAM sensor for position.  If one drops it looks like you got default and it still runs-and that is rare.  Most vehicles if you loose crank siganl you gotta -no run at all.  Thanks B.  - Hope you got it in a good service facility.

OK guys, boy am I tired. I posted just a few pics in the gallery, I was remiss in taking alot of pictures but others that were there made up for it. I think about 12 machines ended up changing hands/vehicles at the pre-meet as well as glass kits, misc parts and freebies. But moving all thise machines around took a toll- at least on my old butt. I'm pretty happy with my Pink Panther Vision, was playing it as soon as I got it set up downstairs! :3- Would have liked to get the topper as well, but height restrictions just don't allow that luxury. And now to throw someone under the bus- Railroad94 got a very nice RT S2000 Cigar machine and told me he was thinking of using it as a PARTS machine!!!! :25-  :30- :30- Make sure everybody lets him know what they think about that idea. Well, I'm gonna kick back now and watch the flurry of activity with the sh*tstorm I might have started. It was nice to see everyone again (except for Bunnyslots :72-) and the couple of new faces that showed up.

Gee possibly becuase the PO PO are walking around looking for newer games, just a thought, they aren't that smart though, in 1997 they wanted to see the VIN tag on a Caille Center Pull I had there in the parking lot across the street when the Fri Morning blitz was there, I told them since it was not a motorized vehicle only self propelled  it didn't need a VIN, they were going to check it out and come back, btw, never got a response on those kit prices

Hello all!

It was great to see everyone again and some new faces too at the show this weekend.  Hopefully the spring show will be a little warmer.  I only took a few pics but I posted them.  Thanks again Dansgames for providing some great machines.  I spent more than I wanted to, of course, but ended up with about 5 or 6 new game kits...still got to sort through them all.  Also, thanks tacman, bunnyslots and kenokarz for the freebies :)  My friend Pat that came with got his first machine home and I think he was up till about 4am playing and cleaning it...I warned him that one is never enough and to start saving.

Now I've got to start saving up for the next show....
