Title: CC16 COIN COMPARITOR - FOR IGT S - what is the diff?
Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on September 28, 2010, 08:33:46 PM
I have found that on the IGT S+ there are various comparitors that work on them - form cc-16D  inhibit - no inhibit - 13v  24v  - there doesn't seem to be a rhime or reason.  What governs there use?   Is there a master listing of the control boards that indiate what they are?

An S+ ONLY uses 24Volt comparitors Fox!!!!
Stick a 13Volt CC in there and you'll have smoke! :98-
I have no idea what an straight "S" machine uses... :103-

thanks for the info but what i am trying to find out is why I am finding different cc16 in S+?  Some just say cc16  some cc16d some say inhibit -  and most do not even specify voltage.  some have the cc part number on the front - some have a part number on the back - the only CLUE to what they are is the PCB board inside.   I realliize 13 v fries - but when you have 100s of comparitors marked cc16 - trial and error is not the way to find out what they are - I don't like the smell of smoke in the morning!
REWORDING MY QUESTION - how can you identify a CC16 comparitors ACTUAL part number and usage?  thanks.

Fox,
One pretty good giveaway is that the 13v coin comps have
two green wires going to the rake solenoid.
The 24v coin comparitors have 2 gray wires.

I'm in a golf tournament today so I won't be able to do anything.
However, tomorrow I will post up a bunch of 24volt board numbers for ya.
The only way to to tell what you have inside is by taking the 4 screws off the cover
and peeking in at the numbers on the board.

I never noticed before but Buzz attached/posted up an old list I found years ago.
I never checked to see the numbers that were on that list to see whether or
not those numbers are from the boards themselves or if those correspond to IGT part numbers.
If so, then I'd match up those numbers to verify what boards you have.
Here is a link to Happs exploded views/diagrams of different coin comparitor boards that might help too!>>>

thank you - i have the board numbers that Happ has but that is only for the newer cc16  - I have 100s of old cc16 (and others) that no markings on the plastic housing - so the only way to identify is by the pc board (if the labels are still on them).
I knew about the wiires on the coils.  Thank you and NO HURRY .  this may be helpful to others like as there are lots of those cc16s kicking around.

In the photo below, the 5 boards on the left are 13v coin comparitor boards.
They have different white 6-pin connectors. They are usually for S2000's.

The 5 boards on the right are all 24 volt CC16's for S+'s, PE, PE+, Bally 5500 and Bally 6000's.
Look at the revisions they did with the 24volt boards!
There's been so many revisions I lost count.
The last one on the bottom right is a 092701 26  Rev. 5  board.
I've seen even newer revised boards out there but I didn't have one on hand to take a photo with.
They have blue colored boards...
The close-up photo on the bottom are the 6-pin board header differences.
