Title: Evel Knievel Video Slot Machine problem.
Post by: eveleye1 on July 21, 2012, 08:34:58 PM
Hello,,i have a IGT Evel Knievel Video Slot Machine. I turned it on today and got the message shown in the picture below. It says Main Battery Low. Now i know nothing about these machines. I only collect Evel Knievel memoribilia
and turn on the machine an play. I didn't even know it had a battery that could die. Is this an easy fit. Very costly, something i can do myself or do i need to call someone that fixes slot machines. Thanks for any advice or help
you can give.

Hello Eveleye1

:238- You have an IGT I-game.  Your post probably should have been made under that section, and you only need to post in one, but no worries, a mod will probably put in the appropriate location.

Anyhow, your main CMOS battery is low.  Under the monitor you'll see a metal tray with a handle on it, inside that tray is your MPU board.  With the power off, pull the tray out of the shelf.  On the on the front left side of the board you'll see a coin cell battery.  Unless someone has installed a holder for it, it will be soldered directly to the board.  If you have a soldering iron and some basic soldering skills you can replace it yourself.  If not, an electronics repair shop or batteries plus store can do it for you.

You will probably want to get a keychip for it too.  It's needed to setup certain game options.  Post a wanted to buy (WTB) ad in the classified section and I'm sure one of our vendors will be able to supply it for you along with instructions on how to use it.
