Title: ChamII Help
Post by: stormrider on May 06, 2009, 09:08:59 AM
I have read through many posts but just can't seem to figure out how to load
a mess.do or jpot.do file via the psp 2.0  I always get a speed control error
I have been able to load the jackpot value's with no problem.I am using a chamII
MFILE is set to 0 and Im' running it as stand alone also I haven't tried doing a batch file yet(clueless)
just sending via the psp program any help on what the string should look like or a batch file
would be great. Thnaks :103-

First, are you sure that you don't have a CHAMII+? The CHAMII is only a driver and will not work as a stand-alone controller.

Assuming that you have a CHAMII+. it won't use the mess.do file, but will use the jpot.do file. You will need to put you message(s) in there, along with the jackpot token in order to display the jackpot amount. I set mine up with two sets of animated messages separated by multiple copies of the jackpot token command (the command to display the progressive amount). It took a bit of tweaking to get the timing right. You use the paragraph command (<F1>) to separate each command.

Don't let the name fool you. jpot.do isn't displayed when you hit the jackpot, but when you are playing.

It's best to have a copy of the manual nearby when creating a .do file, and you can also use the demo.do file to get a feel for how it's done (just don't accidentally erase or mess up the demo.do file) I also recommend making backup copies of all of the files in Windoze before you start just in case.

There is a quirk with this program and the CHAMII+ that affects many of us, but not all, that you should be aware of. In some cases, changes to the jpot.do file will only upload into the CHAMII+ immediately after the CHAMII+ is rebooted. This means that you have to remove power and reapply it to get the unit to reboot, and then hit the "send" button just after the boot sequence completes.

Hope this helps.

I have the manual for it (psp)but its greek to me so far. I will try and work the the jpot.do instead of mess.do
see what happens and I made backups of the originall psp been down that road before.
Thanks

A CHAMII needs a CON2 to make it work correctly.  The way to tell between the II and the II+ is a CHAMII has 4 red and green LEDs on the board whereas the CHAMII+ has 8 red and green LEDs.

I was wondering how you had a CON2 connected to the CHAMII+ and made it work.  In your message above you said CON2, that why I asked.

Yeah between the psp and chamII manual + trying to program the thing and being a newbie
to this whole setup I typed con2  :30-
