Title: S2000 No Sound
Post by: wdg61 on October 18, 2013, 11:31:11 AM
Dad recently acquired s2000 Double Diamond. It has NO SOUND. We do have reels clicking, but that's it. Have not checked sound setups because can't believe anyone would have changed it to no sound. Gut says a part failure so thats where we started. Everything seems to be plugged in. Snagged couple used amp boards, tried 'em, NO SOUND. 3 bad amps?  Maybe but not buying it. Took known good working amp board from  working 4X machine we have & put in the double diamond and still NO SOUND.  Went to put the good amp back in working 4X  machine and we now have NO SOUND from that unit. ( It's almost like our double diamond is fryin the boards )..........Took a good working amp from cherry machine, plugged into previously working 4X machine and now we HAVE sound again. Tried all 4 non-working amps in the working 4x machine and NO SOUND ( so it seems like a definite fry?).....Not  sure where to go from here......FYI - this unit does NOT have mmlb or simm

My first guess would be a shorted speaker(s). Check ohms across each speaker, unplug them first. Then check all wiring very carefully and your MPU for obvious shorts

Check your sound settings in the menu. You would feel silly doing all this with sound setting just turned off!  :30- :30-

Start with the simple, and move up the chain....how do you know someone didnt have it in their house and liked to play while watching TV? Unless of course, the sound was on when you picked it up?

UPDATE..............1 bad speaker.........3 bad amps.........AND sound turned off..................AOK now.......................now I need to adjust limits but not sure how.  Press white button on MPU. I go into 3.1.4 limits options.....I can view them, but not able to change 'em...........WHY?

You will need to clear off all credits and Key the machine to change limits...

GOOD advice because that is exactly what happened with my fancy schmancy s2000 Top Dollar. One speaker was working but the settings were for the "de doodle deeeeee doodle doodle deeeee" sounds. When I changed it, it was like going from a playschool piano to a Steinway.  :71-
