Had a game that has been working until it stated getting a "No Disp" showing up on the display. Sometimes I could shut the game off for a minute and turn it back on and it would start right up and work fine. Now when I turn the machine on I am getting "Display Netplex Link Is Down" steady, not flashing as I have seen before on other machines. I did notice that the ticket printer now does not seem to be getting any power, so I am guessing that the game is looking for it since it is a netplex device, but it won't go any further than just sitting there and not booting and staying on the same "Display Netplex Link Is Down" mode.

Any Ideas? I re seated the main board, and both IO boards as well and nothing changed. I tried to clear it but I could not get the 2 amber lights to come on and the display showed the same Display Netplex message. The green battery has a good charge as well so I know it is not associated with that.

Thanks,

David

Check the seating of the power supply or replace. That is the "common" cause of that error

Also make sure all the chips are seated well on the mpu board.  If they are not you can get this error as well.  Check as well on the comm board that the wires there are seated well.  The small wire there is related to the display.

I have tried the board in another machine, so it can't be anything associated with the board. Where is the comm board located? Are you talking about the display board on the main door at the top roght of the door?

Thanks

Nope.  The comm board is usually on the backplane.  It is next to the service outlet.  There should be a ribbon cable coming out of it, and then there would be like a small 5 or 6 wire cable.  That small one is the one related to display netplex.  If you need a photo PM me your e-mail and I will send a photo for you.  Did you try the power supply idea as well. Issues with those can be strange too.

FYI, The communications board in the S2000 is for communications with the top box computer and casino backroom systems.
It has nothing to do with any Netplex operations. if you trace the only 3 wire connector that is coming from it (gray wires) you will note it goes to the top box and to the top box computer if the machine has one (visions not sure about reel touch)
Netplex is handled directly by the MPU via the three 10 pin and the one 12 pin (reserved for the Bill Acceptor) netplex ports on the motherboard.

In s standard 3 reel machine the netplex devices are
BV
VFD
Printer

SENET handles other I/O
  Door I/O
    player buttons
    LED player display either 5 5 2 or 6 6 3
    Coin In
  Cabinet I/O
    handle (release and switch)
    meters
    bell
W-2G key for jackpot to credits (second JP reset key)
    hopper

I was having a simular problem,  machine was working fine turned it off and later when I turned it on received the netplex display error.  I turned the machine off and back on and the error cleared.  But still happens everytime I turn it off and back on.  I changed power supply no luck the batterys have correct voltage.  I am going to change mpu to see if that helps.  Did you have any sucess with your problem?
