   Game Maker Primary Host problem
« on: January 25, 2006, 01:28:32 PM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm having problems with a Game Maker not clearing with the set chip installed.  We have taken out the battery and swapped around some of the game roms...and still it would only perform a safe ram clear and not clear the eeprom.  I have had eeproms go bad before, but none that insist on holding the memory.  The primary host setting is set to N  H T....and I need to change that to none for the machine to operate correctly.  Has anyone run into this before???  ANY help would be appreciated.  Thanks to everyone, mike @ The Pinball Shoppe

One problem I had on a Game Magic when wanting to clear the eeprom was not only have DPS1  switch 8 "on" I also had to have DPS1 switch 7 "on" as well, it's worth a try. Using P10 clear chip.

Ozzy, wish that was the case but I always turn on switch 7 and 8 because I have run into that before.  I just cannot get it off of primary host.  Any over ride that will defineltly allow me to change these settings?

I think that u will need another ramclear chip to clear the e2prom settings. Bally don’t give that away normally because it’s on the e2prom that the jurisdiction options are saved. I don’t have one at hand right now but you can try this if u need it in a hurry:
There’s a small chip on the main board (If I remember correctly it’s located on the upper right corner and it got 8 pins), that’s the jurisdiction e2prom. If it’s possible swap it with another one. If u got one blank then you’re ok, if not get one from another board if possible with different jurisdiction settings (I know that this one works). This will show the error “jurisdiction e2prom settings changed, please perform ram clear or install old e2prom” or something like that…  there u go…  u know what to do next. Just remember that the other e2prom got to be cleared as well. Just do the same procedure with it.
If no luck, drop me a line and I’ll try to get u the bin file.

Good luck,

Slotsman

your primary host settings need to be changed to "none".  You will have to perform a ram clear w/ switches 1-8 turned on to do so.  I have the GM Ram clear.  It seats in the p10 prom.

If I understand this procedure right, I could buy a blank eeprom of the same type and size of the juridiction chip and this would unlock my gamemaker after I locked up the jurisdiction? I'm just trying to learn more about the electronics of the machine since I chose the wrong settings when configuring the jjurisdiction etc. On that same note,, I bought new mains from a vendor above, can the old mains be repaired/reprogramed with the program from the new mains I just bought so that I would have a back up set? Thanlks for any information.
