Title: Newbie needs help..
Post by: jeemann99 on October 27, 2010, 12:48:06 AM
I am TOTALLY new to slot / gaming machines.

I bought a 7200 Game Maker upright and had some game on there I want remove (Keno) dont even know how to play them. I bought some game maker games from Ebay and try loading them on one of the empty eprom sets on the board and when I turned it on it said something about a clear chip???? I have 5 Keno games on there now that I want to remove, but how do I know which chips they are and do some of them take 2? I bought 5 games that I want to add what do I need to do to make these work. Man this is frustratrating.

If someone lives in chicagoland I would be willing to pay them to do this

Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Total newb

Welcome to NLG jeemann99 :88-

Yes, you need a clear chip, which you can purchase from one of our vendors. If you look at this same board (where you started your new thread) you will find the answer is stickied two threads from the top. I recommend reading the top three threads and downloading the documents that they contain and/or point to to get up to speed on the Gamemaker.

I read the manual, but still do not understand where to place new game chips. The only slot I have open is P9 I put the new chip in there and it says to add clear chip. I did not have one and if I did where would I put that and why. I know picked up a clear chip from ebay,. but still do not know what to do. Do some games take multiple eproms? please help I bought these games but cannot get them working

That would be one of those top three stickied threads I mentioned.. :129-  :96-

The clear chip goes in P10, and you have to remove the game that's in there to do the clear. You then put it (or another game) back after the clear. The machine will tell you when to do this on the screen.

Do some games take multiple eproms?

Yes - some Gamemaker games do require more than 1 eprom.

When I purchased the game the only port open was P9

I did the above until I ran into the problem where there was a game chip in P10,

- I removed a game in P5 inserted my new chip
- Insert Clear chip came on screen
- I installed clear chip in P10, but there was game in it and I do not know how to DO A MAINS CLEAR, so I just removed it and put in the clear chip
- When I put the board back in it says insert clear chip???????????
- So I put everything back to original and now I get a screen message "PLEASE INSTALL CLEAR CHIP MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM WAGE SETTINGS MUST BE CONFIGURED"

THIS SUX. DOES ANYBODY LIVE IN CHICAGOLAND THAT I CAN PAY TO DO THIS OR IF I CAN SEND IT OUT TO GET DONE

If you have single chip games, you can basically put them in any of the 10 sockets that you want, although it's best practice to start from P1 and go to P10, leaving the upper sockets empty if you choose to have fewer than 10 games in the machine.

If you have fewer than 10 games in the machine and want to swap some games, you CAN do it with only a partial clear by putting the clear chip in any free socket and performing a partial clear, but the trade off is that you cannot put a game back into the socket you used for the clear chip (so you can't do this and have more than 9 games.) It sounds like that is what is happening to you.

The better practice is to do a FULL clear. This requires that the clear chip be in P10, and you will be able to replace it with a game chip before setting up the machine after the clear. You will have to setup all options on the machine from scratch, but it's not that hard once you try it a few times, and it can even be fun because it allows you to try different setups to see how you like your machine configured. Follow the procedures outlined in the documents you downloaded and also follow the directions presented on the screen.

To do a full clear, you need to turn on switches 7 AND 8 on DIPSW1. Put the game chips that you will want in your machine in positions P1 through P9 in the order that you would like to see them on the menu screen, and put the clear chip in P10. Put the board in and power up the machine. Then follow the directions. Some Mains will run through the initial setup before telling you to remove the clear chip, others will have you remove it immediately. Just follow the prompts. When you do remove the chip, turn off the DIP switches and put the last game chip in P10, replace the board, power up, and continue to follow the prompts to complete the setup.

I did that

I put my dip switches on "up" 7 and 8

Put in the games with the clear chip on P10 and I get the same message as above photo

It sounds like you have a bad clear chip.

Just to cover the bases, are you installing your chips with the notch pointed in the correct direction to match the socket notch and the diagrams on the board? Are you sure that all of the chips are correctly inserted with no bent or broken pins, especially the clear chip? When you put in a 28 pin (512k) chip such as the clear and many poker games, are you matching the bottom end of the chips with the end of the socket, so that the empty socket holes are above the notch?

Place an ad in our classified section and one of our vendors will get back to you.

One last thing. Have you checked your battery voltage? It should be over 3.0v (they are 3.6v, so 3.7 is full) . If not, that could be part of your problem.

Also, if you put the original chips back in their original positions and turn off the dip switches, I believe that your old games should come back up. It's possible that they won't, but if they do, you could play the machine until the new clear chip arrives.

Do I need to pull all the Game Eproms out of P1 - P9 then put in Clear CHip in P10 set dips 7 and 8 on. Or do I just leave the games in P1 - P9. To do a full clear

Make sure you don't put the chip in backwards. Watch where your notch goes.
I put one in the wrong way a screwed it up.

Ok I was using the wrong Dip Switches, so I now put the DPSW-1 # 7and 8 up and turn on machine. Now I get this message, so I put the dipswitches back down on 7 and 8 and I get the previous screen again

It looks like your battery is low.  When the battery is low, the machine keeps going throught the clear cycle without clearing.  Your clear chip should be fine since it clears and gets to the reboot screen, however it's good to have the better one from Blueridge in case you need to make jurisdiction changes.

Thanks,
Wayne

how do you recharge the battery or do you have to replace it

how do I check for voltage and how many volts are considered good

Title: Re: Newbie needs help..
Post by: a69mopar on November 03, 2010, 09:39:43 PM
the battery will need to be replaced, it's not rechargeable.  The voltage when new is 3.6 .  you will need a volt meter or a multi meter...

thanks,
Wayne

Also, if you know anyone who wants some Keno games or if you want them their yours or theirs. I dont even know how to play that game. I have 5 diffenrent Keno games that came with the game originally.

I am sure we will be talking soon or on the 13th

Thanks Again
