Title: Double diamond deluxe vision with bonus wheel non back lit-coin in Jam
Post by: qbert on October 06, 2013, 03:41:49 PM
Guys I need help this one is killing me I'm going to write a paragraph so be prepared.
Machine is non enhanced board with vision bonus reel in top box, 3 reel, 2 coin, no back light reels.
Here is what was done before I got to look at the machine.
Game stopped playing "call attendant on top box display"
customer replaced coin battery in video portion in top box with no luck.
When I got to the machine boot with all the normal sounds top box waiting for bottom machine to complete it's sequence.
vfd shows "Closure M .... Coin In Jam" .
To make a long day short I do not have a lot of experience with the video portion but that seems OK.
Here is everything I have tried with no luck.
1) Replaced door I/O card (801) more than once with known good cards
2) Replaced coin in assy and wiring with known working unit optics also.
3) Relplaced vfd driver board
4) Replaced power supply
5) Replaced  sound card
Tried to run a clear chip # 97. After reboot no panel light buttons so I can not get to the 7 series menus.
6) Changed MPU board with 504 board-- Still no panel button control.
Still door Closure M Coin In Jam.
Reseated all plugs on back plane board, removed BV and coin hopper. Door optics working properly

Question does a vision game with video monitor use a differant clear chip than the 97 I am using?
Whats left the back plane board? Also replaced no help

Any thoughts from you experts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Rich

Have you tested the "stacked errors" possibility by opening and closing the door several times? Do the reels reset after each closing? Worst case, that 97 should work to clear that machine

thinking out loud but is the solenoid that normal diverts coins into the stand hooked up and maybe stuck or shorted confusing the io board?

Reels turn backword after reset
Lifted handle many times for stacked errors,  top box indicates when handle is up but reels do not spin each time.
after clear it does not go to 7 screen it goes to coin in jam.
Also top yellow led flashes on mpu when the error code comes on.
Otherwise leds operate as they should throughout clear process.
Changed out coin assy completely

Sounds like you've covered all the known possibilities other than maybe unplugging the top box computer and trying g to load the game with a different, standard, SB chip to see if the problem originates with him changing the battery. While you're in there you can check to make sure hegot the battery in right and all plugs in the proper place going back to the motherboard

I thought for sure I was going to be successful but the machine has beaten me.  :103- I spent most of a day changing parts. (really depressing).
I won't be back to this guys house for a few weeks so if any other ideas pop into somebodies head please post.
I'll report back after I try again.

Thanks cowboy I used a lot of your recommendations from other posts.

One question is the screen in the top box a touch screen?  I do not think it is but when the machine is in the accounting mode it shows buttons and menu like you can choose from the screen by pressing.

Thanks
beaten down, :277-
Rich

Ok....so, you are stuck with no button panel and Coin-In Jam? We've seen/heard/read that all the Senet and NetPlex devices are daisy chained, right? So maybe look at some of the other components. What else did you swap today?

Bv, display, I think I disabled swapped out or unplugged every senet  device that there is, that is why I'm pulling out my hair.
Is there anything in the video part that reports to senet?
I'm going to try cowboy's idea of installing a non vision game, unplug the video and see if it works that way.
Just not sure when I can get back to it.

I saw the entire laundry list of SENET parts that you replaced with known good.
But I did not see the lines plays display listed. Swap that one out?

You said the reels turn backwards. If this is true try replacing the cabinet I/O board.

He stated it's a 3 reel 2 coin which makes it single line:(  No lines played display

Update
I finally got back to look at this machine today. When I last left it the reels were going in the correct direction and I had swapped the cab i/o card from one of the guys other machines with no luck.
Fast forward my customer said he had tried turning the machine on every week or so to see if it magically would fix itself.
He told me that now the reels spin backwards all of the time.
I went back today and replaced the cab i/o. The game went though self test, reels went in correct direction and machine type unknown displayed.  Yeah no coin in fault. I completed normal after clear set up and the game plays fine. What gives I had tried replacing the cab i/o at least twice before.
Anyway it's finally up and running.
Thanks for everyones help I was ready to burn the game to the ground
I still am puzzled but it is working and that's what counts.

The cab I/O cards I originally used are both operating in two other machines at the same location.
Today I used one from my stock and it works, go figure. :103-

Wait...does the machine you were repairing use 2 I/Os in the door?

Single I/O in the door std. 5 button panel.

Hmmm...we are overlooking something here. Electronics are electronics...they work or they do not (given proper current). So, you've tried those same I/Os in your games and they work fine? Something's funny here!!!  :209- :209- :209-

Roz the i/o I removed from the machine today is definitely bad. What I don't understand is when I was doing all the trouble shooting a few months ago I had changed the cab I/O at least twice with no luck.
