Title: Ike Dollars and Casino dollar tokens

Will the Casino tokens work interchangeably on a machine setup for the Eisenhower dollar coins?

It depends if the "tokens" have the same metal content.

Most machines use a coin comparitor - you simply put the sample coin in the comparitor and if the coin matches you get a credit.
There is a sensitivity adjustment on the compaitor with a +/- symbol. By moving it towards the minus there is more tollerance for differences between coins but they stil need to be close.

I run my machines off of Pachi tokens and have 3 different series, slightly more than 10,000 coins.

One of the series does not work on my machines with the tollerance opened up all the way. I have slowly been pulling these when I come across them.
I give them to my brother who know owns my Pachi machine.

You can change the comparitor out for a mechanical device known as an IMONEX and the coin only needs to be the same size.

if you want to get fancy there is a X10 ??? programable comparitor. You run the sample coins through this device in program mode and it learns what is acceptable and rejects all others.
In my case I did not think it was worth $80 x 4 macines ($320 to save using $30.00 in tokens).

The "tokens" I'm talking about are the actually casino ones that they used in the machines years ago and they still use at the tables for change.

I've got about 100 ike dollars in the machine but it would be nice to have another 100-200.  I don't want to swap or change the comparator since I still want to use the dollar coins.

If you want an bianary answer I would say "NO" you cannot use both at the same time as the metal content is different and your comparitor will reject them.

You "might" get this to work by dummy-ing down the sensitivity on your comparitor but this is a stretch. You can't get a standard comparitor to accept both a Canadian and US quarter.
Even though they are almost at par now....  :72-

If you want it to work.
 - use an imonex which works on size and not metal content.
 - use a programable comparitor which will allow multiple types of coins to be used.
 - Buy more IKE dollars. They are avaialble but will cost you more than face value.
 - Sell your IKE dollars and buy 10x the number of tokens than you will ever possibly need.

There's a coin acceptor called the X10.  It can "learn" up to 6 (I'm pretty sure it's 6) different coins to accept.  But you need to make sure you get one with the correct "personality" module for your machine type.

Try your local coin shop or ebay for Ike dollar coins. They are least 25% more than face value.

Yea, so far the only quantities I've found would be $1.37 plus shipping which is fine, however if you want to sell these it's hard to find anyone willing to pay anything over face value!

List them on Ebay at 1.15 and you will get a number of takers. Less so at 1.80.....

if you were after 10,000 coins like I have you would be better off getting the x10 comparitor as they run you about $80-$100 a machine.
For another few hundred coins I would be more inclined spending the $$ and getting the real Ikes.
