Title: IGT PE+ Red White and Blue progressive increment rate
Post by: eboucha on December 27, 2008, 11:10:57 PM
Does anyone have any information on setting up the increment rate for An IGT PE+ standalone progressive?

Do you know if its a MIKON board ? known as a Cham II +
If so you use a PC and a program called PSP.

It could be a built in progressive. The progressive on the River Gambler slot on the PE+ is built in.

From memory you just make the adjustments in the self test menus, setting the amount in decimal you want to increase the jackpot by for each coin entered and the starting amount. I don't have easy access to the machine at the moment to take pictures of the screens. But will do if you are still having trouble in the next couple of days.

It is a built in progressive. What we are having touble with is what is the code number to enter for the increment rate.

I just bought a PE+ myself -- I'd be curious to see a picture of the progressive setup if you could post one.

As far as the increment, on the S+ (same era, but a reel slot) it was a percentage of the coin put in.  If memory serves correctly (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), if you set it for four percent, the meter would increment four cents for every $1.00 worth of coins put in, so a single quarter would increment it by one cent.

Typically Progressives use 4 setttings.
Increment rate.
Base Amount
Current Amount
Max Amount

The base amount is what it resets to after the Jackpot has been won.

I have never seen a built in to a PE+ ? is this a add on IGT board or something within the chipset ?
Owning a PE+ I am always interested in getting all the toys.

Eboucha,

This may be may terminology, I was referring to the progressive being built into the chipset with the progressive being displayed on the screen.

Is this what you are referring too as well, or do you have some additional 'built in' hardware that needs to be configured?

Aah, yes, this made something click in my brain.  On the PE+ video slots there's the option to have a progressive for the top award, and it shows above the reels on the monitor as "Progressive Jackpot".

I don't have a PE+ slot myself, although I might be able to tinker with one in the emulator to figure out the settings.  eboucha: what denomination is the machine, and how much do you want the progressive to increment?

I think I may have found your problem.

I've just set up the progressive on the River Gambler Slot and when I went back in to take some pictures, the options do not exist anymore. Seems to be a one time deal on set up and once done you can't change the progressive settings again.

If you need to modify them then you will need to 'reset' the board so that it thinks the game is new again. I guess you would either use a set chip or if you have another game, then change the game on the board and boot up and then change the chips again back to the slot. This should then give you access to the progressive menu items again once you have gone through the cmos data errors.

*** Be aware that you will lose all accounting data doing this so make notes of anything important ***

That's good to know.  It was probably done to prevent a slot attendant from changing the progressive settings once the game was put on the floor, much like you need a keychip to change major game settings on newer machines.

UPDATE and CORRECTION

I've been playing with this again and the settings ARE available afte the first setting, I don't know where they went last night! I must have been having a bad day.

Pics below show the process flow for setting up the progressive.

Pic1 - Select if there is to be a progressive at all - chaange the second line down to either Progressive or Non Progressive
Other options are A or B type (I don't know what these are, I need to play some more  :89-)
Single or Double Progressive - This lets you pick a progressive for two different wins, I guess for Three River Gamble symbols are three sevens, never hit them so I don't know for sure, more playing needed  :25-
and finally Stand Alone or Linked

Pic2 - Select if display progressive on screen or on an imbedded display, or both. If you select imbedded or both you get an extra set of options to pick the display size 7x7, 8x8 or 9x7

Pic3 - Here you set the options Jay mentioned in his previous post:
Current Amount - How much the progressive should be when you have finished setting it up
Add Amount - The amount to add to the progressive for each coin entered. If you set to all zero's except the first number right of the decimal point to a 1 (one) then the progressive jackpot will increase by 10c.
Base Amount - This is what the progressive will reset to and start from once its been won.
Limit Amount - This is the maximum the progressive can reach.

I have seen many games bypass certain operator screens while a game is in progress.  In other words, if you insert a coin or credit and begin a game cycle and then go into the service mode screens, it will limit the options you are allowed to modify until you complete the game in progress.

Sounds likely that is what I did. Thanks Stolistic

Very possible. I was going to suggest that, a lot of screens are bypassed and won't show if you're in a game or sometimes even have credits on the machine. I've gotten in the habit of making sure I just play all credits out when I need to change something this way I know the screen won't be bypassed

In the progressive settings screen under the add amount what number do you set it at if you want the progressive to increment 1 cent for every 20 nickels in? Do you have to do a ram clear to change this setting from a previous one?

Set it to .000500 and it doesn't look like you need to do a ram clear.

Maths for this:

0.01c / 20coins = 0.0005

EDIT - You will need to press the white self test button enough times to take you off of this screen and on to the next one after making the changes otherwise they won't save.
