I don't think so.

From what I've read, you can own one as long as you don't use it for illegal gambling. The same applies to a craps table. I also can't say if that applies to all 50 states.

The reason that I ask is that on the show "Pawn Stars", a customer came in to sell a roulette wheel and one of the staff said "If you had this in NY State, you would be going to jail." And in another program on some students betting on roulette, one of them got confronted by the FBI as to why he had a roulette wheel. I think a roulette wheel is a "gambling device" and subject to the same laws as slots because it is a "device" I could be wrong though. I saw no restrictions on E-Bay auctions regarding them so I guess you are right Stat. Would be fun to have one though although a genuine TCS John Huxley wheel could cost 5-10 thousand dollars.

I don't see any State restrictions on any of the ones they sell in stores like this $4500.00 one from Amazon.

It doesnt appear to be motorized and self leveling like the ones in the casinos.
Good prices on a variety of gaming junk. Who would have thunk amazon for that stuff.

I would think it would have to be all automated now as a constant velocity would have to be maintained to secure the integrity of the game.

Those automated one don't need a croupier. When I lived in CA and went to Vegas a lot, I never saw an automated one. But I never really paid that much attention to roulette.

There are various degrees of automated - from simply using a motor all the way up to a ball reading system and ball ejection.
Then there is the fully automated  where you use a betting terminal.

I don't play much roulette but I still like it when use a croupier for betting and ball spinning.

I have not seen anyone spin a wheel except at carnivals so I am just wondering what standards are in place.
